Behind the Scenes: Stephanie Bell

From shooting Cupid’s arrow to rescuing stray kittens, Steph can do it all. She currently manages Publisher Partnerships at Stanza.

How long have you been at Stanza?

It will be two years in September.

What is your secret superpower?

I’m always right.

What’s something people would be surprised to learn about you?

My parents put my sister and me through ballet when we were younger. I actually really enjoyed it and wanted to keep going but chose to focus on soccer. My parents still have plenty of these pics hanging in the hallway of their house just to embarrass us in front of friends…

What has been your favorite day at Stanza and why?

My favorite day at Stanza was when we took the afternoon off to go booze cruising in the bay. Conditions at sea were perfect, and the boat was stocked with plenty of snacks and drinks. I was having a great time… until I got hit with with a 5-foot wave. So I think this also counts as my least favorite day. I dried off pretty quickly but had saltwater in my hair the rest of the day.

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever had to do for a job?

One summer I worked at a medical device consulting group in Sunnyvale, where the CEO and President were secretly avid animal rescuers. The area around the office was known for having stray kittens, so I had to spend an afternoon getting a litter of kittens out from under a car in the parking lot.

What advice would you give someone applying to Stanza?

If you’re passionate about something outside of work, tell us! Most of the things we do in our free time require a time and date, and that’s our special sauce. We want to make sure we help people remember the things they care about most, so we’re always looking for some inspo. (I’m a former D-1 soccer player and Bay Area sports fan!)

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?

I’m not well traveled, so I’m pretty excited to go to Kenya and Morocco for 2 weeks in August. I think after that adventure I’ll have a better idea of where I want to go next. Probably somewhere in South America.

If you were stranded on an island, which one of your coworkers would you want with you and why?

Leksi. She was raised by gypsies in the streets of Bulgaria so she has the best survival instincts of anyone I know.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
