All hail, Lord Stanley

~ What To Know & How To Watch~

“They play their sport on the hardest surface in the world with knives on the bottom of their feet. They get their teeth knocked out constantly and don’t bother to get them fixed. AND THEY HAVE MULTIPLE CAPTAINS.”
- Thad Castle on Hockey Players

So what major things should you be looking for during these heated (or rather, frozen) contests?

~How The West Was Won~

Undoubtedly the surprise of the season in all of the NHL was the Las Vegas Golden Knights had. For an expansion team (in the desert) to lock up the Pacific Division is extremely impressive, to say the least.

But, though the Golden Knights record was unexpected, there’s no denying who’s been the best team in the Western Conference all year, that would belong to the Presidents Cup eyeing Nashville Predators. (Nothing says hockey like Las Vegas and Nashville, right?)

The Preds are sitting 3 points atop of the entire NHL standings, and are sure to lock up the overall #1 seed in the west, and most likely the the Presidents Cup trophy.

With only a couple games left in the regular season, a few changes could still happen. But here how the Western Conference Playoff Breakdown is looking:

Updated Playoff Bracket
Central Division

  1. Nashville Predators vs. (WC2) Colorado Avalanche
  2. Winnipeg Jets vs. (3) Minnesota Wild

Pacific Division

  1. Las Vegas Golden Knights vs. (WC1) Los Angeles Kings
  2. Anaheim Ducks vs. (3) Los Angeles Kings
Two legends of the modern game.

~Nothing Beats The East~

With the last 2 Stanley Cups winner residing in the East thanks to Sid The Kid, there’s a bit of uncertainty as to who is the clear front-runner this year coming out of the Metro and Atlantic Divisions.

We all remember the crazy good year the Caps had, with the Presidents Cup in hand, and an Alexander Ovechkin operating on all cylinders, only to be sent packing by the above mentioned Canadian wonderkid.

Yea…he’s big

The Atlantic conference boasts some very interesting matchups, with a young and very talented Toronto Team looking to reclaim Lord Stanley to our Northern Border friends. To the Tampa Bay Lightning bringing in the veteran Ryan McDonagh in defense to push their playoff run over the edge, and let’s not forget about the 6’9”, 41-year-old Zdeno Chara — the legend of Boston has the Bruins sitting atop their division.

It’s going to be a shootout.

Updated Playoff Bracket
Atlantic Division

  1. Tampa Bay Lightning vs (WC2) New Jersey Devils
  2. Boston Bruins vs (3) Toronto Maple Leafs

Metropolitan Division

  1. Washington Capitals vs (WC1) Columbus Blue Jackets
  2. Pittsburgh Penguins vs (3) Philadelphia Flyers
Never miss the games, the goals, or the glory
