Important Dates

March 11

It’s Selection Sunday! Today marks the day that find out who is going to this year’s big dance. The Division 1 Men’s Basketball Committee officially reveals which 68 teams have qualified for the tournament.

32 teams will qualify automatically through winning their respective leagues or league tournaments. The real question that Selection Sunday answers is; Which 36 teams will make it through “at-large berths”

March 13 & 14

While not technically the first round, the tournament kicks off with the last four at-large teams seeded #’s 65–68 playing to see who reaches the first round of the bracket.

These games will tip off in Dayton, Ohio

March 15 & 16

The dance begins with the grid of 64 teams set to tip off the first round. They’re played all across the country in different regions; games being played in Boise, Charlotte, Dallas, Detroit, nashville, Pittsburgh, San Diego and Wichita.

Never has a #16 seeded team upset a #1. Will this be the first year for it to happen?

March 17 & 18

With the grid now cut in half. The remaining 32 teams move onto the 2nd round, and one step closer to the title.

March 22 & 23

Now begins the sweet 16: games are to be held in Atlanta, Boston, Los Angeles and Omaha. We start to see if those upsets that happened earlier are in fact upsets, or are there some players the world should start to take notice of.

March 24 & 25

In the same places at the round before, the Elite 8 kicks off — the regional finals, with each winner headed to the coveted Final 4

March 31

The Final 4 in San Antonio. The last time that all #1 seeds reached this stage collectively, 2008. The lowest seed to reach this round? #11 seeded George Mason in 2006 and VCU in 2011.

April 2

The National Final, “This one’s for the whole Magilla! For the whole kitten caboodle! For the whole bowl of wax! THIS is for ALLLL the marbles!”
