In ancient Greek mythology, Hermes was the Messenger God. He made sure to fly about bringing communications from sender to recipient. Hermes was also mischievous in nature and presented a unique outlook. One other element that made this God a bit unique to the others is that he moved with ease between Olympus and the underworld, making him quite adaptable. To this end if you were to look to the Roman names for our planets, you would find the Hermes is what we would call Mercury.
