We learn from a note titled “Inside Snape’s Head,” from the late Alan Rickman, that Rickman was upset how David Yates, director of “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” (and three other “Potter” films) influenced Snape’s story arc, The Independent reported.
“It’s as if David Yates has decided that this is not important in the scheme of things i.e. teen audience appeal,” Rickman wrote, according to The Independent’s Jack Shepherd.
