New York City, NY — The past decade has transformed how web series creators can produce and distribute content online. But actually building a sustainable, remunerative career remains out of the grasp of most digital filmmakers. Thankfully, a number of platforms are starting to respond to this need, providing tools and services that help creators earn a living while producing their art. Stareable Fest will bring together Patreon, a membership platform, PopChest, a micropayments blockchain platform, and Seed&Spark, a crowdfunding platform, to peel back the curtain from increasingly opaque digital monetization opportunities for a panel on how to build a sustainable career online, brought to you by PopChest. The panel will cover navigating the digital monetization landscape as well as how creators can leverage their content and their communities to build more sustainable independent careers for themselves.
About Stareable Fest
Stareable Fest will take place July 20th-22nd, 2018, in New York City, and is now accepting submissions. It’s half industry marketplace, creating face-to-face connections between independent filmmakers and decision makers at major platforms, and half creator convention, with workshops and panels about how to be a more effective filmmaker. This isn’t the same old festival, focused on screenings and awards (though we have those too).
You can submit for short and long form independent television content in comedy, drama, animation, unscripted/reality, and documentary categories. Awards will be given out for best in show as well as excellence in writing, acting , editing, cinematography, directing, and innovative new media (interactive/transmedia) elements.
