YouTube unveils YouTube TV, a $35/month cable-replacement skinny bundle. It’s their version of Sling or DirectTV Now. Not to nay-say a first cut but this just isn’t the answer, people.
AdAge looks at efforts to rethink linear television advertising. Companies like TrueX, now owned by Fox, are creating interactive ads that could mean fewer interruptions and better engagement. They’ll also be charging higher rates, which is interesting (aspirational?), considering the already-wide disparity between internet and television ad pricing.

His bet is that demand for “ambient” content will persist and eventually traditional cable networks will remake themselves for younger audiences. “Ambient” is the best euphemism we’ve ever heard for “crippling need for background noise.”
