NEWS:

Google has partnered with CBS for its “skinny bundle”, which will host established TV channels on its YouTube platform. The service will have fewer channels than a standard cable subscription but will only cost $30 to $40 a month.

Warner Bros. is in advanced talks to buy full ownership of online video network Machinima. They already had a stake in the gaming-focused channel.

Continuing the convergence of web series and mainstream media, Fear the Walking Dead, AMC’s spin-off web series to The Walking Dead, will premiere its 2nd season on Sunday, October 23rd.

VIEWS:

The NFL has seen a sharp decline in TV ratings, with viewers splintering across platforms. For example, time spent watching NFL ­regular-season games on ESPN’s streaming service, WatchESPN, grew 73 percent last season. The Washington Post asks what this might mean for traditional broadcasters.
