Actress Giovannie Espiritu named one of the 40 Best Audition Coaches in LA
Actress and filmmaker Giovannie Espiritu was named one of the 40 Best Audition Coaches in Los Angeles by the Hollywood Winners Circle, an organization founded by top talent manager Wendy Alane Wright.
Espiritu specializes in teaching kids, teens, and newer adult actors while also helping them navigate the ins and outs of the industry. Some of her notable alumni include William Lipton who plays Cameron on the long-running soap opera, “General Hospital,” and the Espina sisters who host the Dreamwork’s series, “Life Hacks for Kids On The Road.”
“I feel humbled to be included on a list with so many people that I look up to, some of whom I, myself, have studied under,” Espiritu says.
She shares the honor with some of Tinseltown’s finest including renowned teachers Margie Haber, Amy Lyndon, Leslie Kahn and Annie Grindlay; casting directors Harriet Greenspan, Phaedra Harris, and Risa Bramon; as well as comedy king Scott Sedita.
Although people have heard the maxim, ”He who can, does. He who cannot, teaches,” Espiritu has been adept at doing both.
“I love acting and teaching acting. I believe that when we teach children that emotions are only guideposts and aren’t anything to be ashamed of, we can help them channel their feelings into art instead of unhealthy behaviors,” Espiritu remarks. “Acting also teaches empathy for one another and I truly think it helps the world become a better place.”
As a working actor herself, Espiritu was nominated alongside Academy Award Nominees Alfre Woodard and Amy Irving for Best Supporting Actress at MethodFest and her primetime credits include ER (recurring), Bones, Gilmore Girls, and Trauma. She can currently be seen as the series lead in the Amazon series, “Dyke Central,” (featured in After Ellen, BuzzFeed, and Curve Magazine as a top LGBTQ series to watch) and in the upcoming fantasy horror feature, “D-Railed,” opposite sci-fi icon Lance Henricksen, who plays her boss.
As a filmmaker and content creator, she was recently featured in Elizabeth Banks’ WhoHaHa Media for her parody short, “An Introvert’s World,” and in Ms. Magazine for her storytelling.
