Introducing the Starschema Worldwide Address Data Set in Snowflake
We’re happy to announce that, as part of our ongoing effort to democratize data, we’ve taken over as the provider of The Worldwide Address Data Set, a free and open global address collection on the Snowflake Data Marketplace.
Last year Highland Math — the original provider of the dataset — was acquired by Datavant — congratulations to all — and decided to look for a new provider to maintain and update the share. Highland Math did great work with this and we are honored to be able to adopt the share and continue to provide this important data to all who access it.
Major geolookup service providers charge prices that can limit the ability of smaller organizations to realize their full potential. This authoritative and robust data set empowers organizations regardless of size to utilize this otherwise potentially costly functionality.
The Worldwide Address Data Set is based on the OpenAddresses project and presents an easy-to-use solution for address/reverse address lookup, enabling users to map latitude/longitude information to addresses. This enables users to append their datasets with a postal code to join multiple data sets together or join address data to lat/long information for visualization tools that require the geocoding of address data.

We invite everyone to give the data set a try — it’s a valuable tool for startups and smaller companies that rely on maps and address data as a function of business operations. Use it, for example, to track deliveries and calculate costs based on geographical distance or check customer information against a reliable address source.
