Crank That (Soulja Boy) Dance

Soulja Boy started to post his songs on Soundclick, which garnered positive reviews from listeners. This prompted him to create a YouTube channel and Myspace profile to reach a larger audience. In 2007, Soulja Boy debuted his single “Crank That (Soulja Boy)” that reached #1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and remained #1 for seven consecutive weeks. This single granted him much exposure and his dance became very popular! Soulja Boy ended up signing a deal with Interscope Records.

The rapper released a total of three studio albums and one independent album. His first studio album, Souljaboytellem.com, went platinum but his next two studio albums, iSouljaBoyTellem and The DeAndre Way, were not as popular — despite the fact that “Kiss Me Thru The Phone” was #3 on Hot 100 and #1 on Hot Rap Tracks. His album Souljaboytellem.com was #4 on both the BIllboard 200 and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.

Aside from rapping, Soulja Boy is also a producer, fashion designer, and actor. He has produced records for BowWow, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, and Beyonce’s visual album, Lemonade. He began fashion designing in 2008 and in the same year he released his “S.O.D. Clothing” clothing line along with his “Yums” shoe line. In 2012, him and D. Young created the clothing line “Ocean Gang” and “BLVD. Supply”. Soulja Boy’s acting career venture wasn’t so successful. He wanted his own cartoon called Soulja Boy: The Animated Series but only came out with one episode. In 2011, he self produced his own documentary, Soulja Boy: The Movie. His documentary features his live performances from the DeAndre Way tour and interviews with his father and other members of his group.
