Starting with SoundHelix -1

SoundHelix is a tool for creating MIDI compositions with controlled randomising elements. I discovered it when looking for software that could create interesting accompaniments for me to improvise over. However, it has a sharp learning curve, which I am only just starting to make progress on. And … there is no tutorial or quickstart process.

Given those thoughts, it might be useful to document my discoveries as I blunder towards competence, and save some other users a little of the pain that will probably come their way as they attempt the same. The package really has promise for adding smart auto-composition and auto arrangement into writing and performing tracks, and I seriously hope that my effort to learn it is going to be worthwhile. I’ll tell you later :)
