Starts With A Bang is now on Forbes!
It is with mixed feelings that I write this letter to all my Medium followers, because on the one hand, it’s a tremendous opportunity for me and what I’m doing, but on the other hand it means I’ll be less active with Starts With A Bang on Medium than I have been in the past.
There’s no way I can stop telling the story of the Universe, but I can’t do it for free. Although we’ve been in a great partnership with Medium for 2014 and 2015, they’re unable to offer any financial support for Starts With A Bang moving forward. But that doesn’t mean Starts With A Bang will be ending here; it means things will move forward slightly differently than you’re used to.

It means that the hottest, newest stories will appear on Forbes, at http://www.forbes.com/sites/startswithabang/, if you want to change or add to your bookmarks. It means that if you want to read a story when it first comes out, you’ll want to go there.
And then a week later, ad-free and in full, the stories will appear here, on Medium in the Starts With A Bang collection.

If we can reach a high enough donor level on our Patreon campaign, we might be able to produce first-run content on Medium as well, but at this point I do anything other than thank everyone so much for their support so far. It’s been amazing here.
Thanks to the Patreon support so far, we’ve also been producing monthly podcasts, and the third one — on the matter/antimatter asymmetry in the Universe — has just gone live!
And for those of you who’ve been waiting for my book to come out, I’ve got wonderful, fantastic news.
It’s out!
You can order it at Amazon (the Kindle version came out fantastic), or you can head over to World Scientific and grab the first chapter for free, if you’re a try-before-you-buy kind of person. There’s already been a bit of buzz around it:
- There’s a press release on Eurekalert!
- We have a great review from Sabine Hossenfelder (who hates almost everything),
- And another review from Jonah Miller,
if you want to know what you’re getting. Stick around on Medium for the ad-free experience of Starts With A Bang, and know I couldn’t have made it this far without everyone’s support. Looking forward to all the wonders and joys that 2016 will hold!
