Barcelona has become one of the best cities in the world to do business in. In fact, in the last three years, and despite all the political unrest, the city is thriving, business-wise.

More foreign investment being poured in than ever, big multinationals flocking to come to the Catalan capital, more and bigger exits and an unprecedented coverage by international press have brought Barcelona to the spotlight.

We had a full house as well!

In fact, that’s what inspired us to organise an annual Startup Grind conference in 2017. It went so well, that we decided to give it another go, in November 2018, bringing together over 900 attendees, and international speakers such as founders, investors and C-levels of companies like Shazam, N26, Atomico and Revolut, among many others.

In case you missed it, here’s the highlights video of Startup Grind Tech 2018:

What is Startup Grind Tech?

It is the technical conference of the Startup Grind family.

Startup Grind hosts annual conferences in big leading cities like the Global Conference in Silicon Valley, or the European conference in London.

Being one of the strongest Startup Grind chapters in the world, Barcelona needed to have a Startup Grind conference, and so I came up with the idea of differentiating it from other SG conferences by christening it Startup Grind Tech.

We even brought the co-founder of Shazam, Dhiraj Mukherjee!

Is it a conference for developers?

No, but it’s a hybrid. It’s in between the bigger Startup Grind conferences, which cover a broader range of topics, and a conference for developers.

All of our keynotes, panels and fireside chats have a tech component in it. In the last edition, we had the following talks:

  • Challenges of working as a freelance from home
  • How VCs evaluate tech companies
  • Hiring & managing developers remotely
  • Technological innovation in big corporations
  • WTF is going on with fintech?
  • Lessons learnt through launching ICOs
  • and more!

We speak about product, UX, software architecture, billing, legalese, SaaS, trending frameworks, how to choose the right CTO for your startup and much more. We’re building the bridge between the worlds of business and tech.

Why another conference?

This conference has been built from the ground up by a community of entrepreneurs.

Startup Grind Barcelona started out as an independent act in 2014, promoting entrepreneurship through monthly events. After having organised more than sixty, over the years, we can proudly say we represent the biggest and healthiest community of entrepreneurs and startups in Barcelona.

Our average attendance of circa 150 per event, our Slack community for entrepreneurs and startups of over 1500 members, our newsletter with over 5000 subscribers and other initiatives we lead, give us confidence and a solid fanbase to build bigger projects upon it.

What can we expect from the next one?
