This website grades your work by readability.

It counts adverbs, uses of passive voice, hard to read sentences, etc. The goal is to make all those numbers as low as you can so it’s easier to read.

Good content + easy read = more engagement🚀

Famously, Donald Trump’s stuff is so simple, a 4th grader can read it. Hillary Clinton, 8th grade. Obama, 10th grade.

Again, the goal is to make it as simple as possible.

Go to hemingwayapp .com. Grab one of your articles then copy and paste it in. See how well it stacks up and see where you can improve.

Here’s an example from one of my articles:

“From being able to control your ego and not snap at your parents when they trigger you through something they say, to actually listening to the girl you fancy so you can ask a killer question which melts her heart, to running your company in such a way that you live a less stressful life.”

That’s a SUPER long sentence. Plus, there’s no way I would talk to someone like that in person.

Hemingwayapp knows that this is a “hard to read” sentence. I need to change the format in order to bring the “hard to read” number down👇🏻

I can break it up into bullet points like this:

✅Being able to control your ego and not snap at your parents when they trigger you through something they say

✅Listening to the girl you fancy so you can ask a killer question which melts her heart

✅Running your company in such a way that you live a less stressful life

This will be a hell of a lot more readable.

In an ideal world you should do this before you publish every article.

🚨If you’re brave enough, post your before and after hemingwayapp “grades” below. Who can get the lowest grade? 🥇
