Turn Medium articles into profitable eBooks introduction.

If you want to turn Medium articles into profitable eBooks, then I have just the “thing” for you. On the last day of 2023, I just had to close off the year with another content marketing strategy.

But to turn your Medium stories into profitable eBooks, there are a few rules to follow, and requirements to comply with.

You may, or may not have noticed my recent absence from Medium, but with good reason. I turned many of my Medium articles into profitable eBooks. 13 New eBooks to be more precise. Ranging from 18,000 to 38,000 words.

That was pretty “easy” because you simply turn your Medium articles into eBook chapters.

But there is a certain layout and requirements you will have to meet, to speed up the publishing process. You may or may not have read my other Medium article on how to publish eBooks for free.

But in this article, you will learn how to turn your Medium articles into profitable eBooks. Which comes down to the below-listed steps.

· Create Your Free Publisher Account.

· Add Your Content to the Publisher Editor.

· Edit Your Content And Upload Pictures.

· Including All Legal And Informational Content.

· Submit Your eBook For Review And Publishing.

You have to go through all your Medium articles, and then choose the ones relating to one another. Choose Medium articles within the same niche or topics. You can then turn those articles into topic-targeted profitable eBooks.

The fact that you have all the content for your chapters already written also saves a lot of time with publishing eBooks.

Hopefully, you have read my other Medium articles on how to write your Medium content in Microsoft Word documents. That is the best way to recycle or repurpose your content.

Like when you turn Medium articles into profitable eBooks, you have all the content ready to use in a Word document. In which case, it’s a simple editing, then copy and paste exercise.

There are several benefits of applying this content recycling strategy, 4 benefits to be more precise. The benefits of turning your Medium articles into profitable eBooks are listed below. But we will cover more of that in this article.

· Make Money Selling Your eBooks.

· Increase Medium Article Reads.

· Make Money With Affiliate Offers.

· Legally Published Books With ISBNs.

You will, however, have to edit the articles slightly, like removing footer areas for instance. But, here is another advantage.

You also get to boost your Medium views. Because at the end of each chapter (Medium article), you can include the Canonical Link. Linking back to the original Medium article.

For those who do not know what a canonical URL is, it is pretty easy to comprehend. A canonical URL is the URL where any work has been published before.

In this case, your Medium articles are used to compile the eBook chapter areas. But we will get to all of that in a bit.

Just in case you have missed my Medium article on how to publish in over 40 major online bookstores for free. You might want to read the Medium article below.

Because we are not going to get into that, we will be focusing on how to turn your Medium articles into profitable eBooks. The publishing is explained in more detail below.

Suggested eBook layout and structure for faster approval.

The publisher, namely “BookRix” will publish your eBooks for free in over 40 major online bookstores. But you can read all about that in the above Medium article.

As a result of successfully publishing various eBooks, I now know the preferred sequential layout to speed up the approval process.

It can take a few days, usually no more than a week or two for your eBook to be published. Unless BookRix sends you an email with suggested changes and editing.

Therefore, you want to “get it right” the first time. Each time you edit, you start the approval process all over again. Below are, in sequence, the best-suggested eBook layouts.

· Note To The Reader.

· Introduction.

· Table Of Contents.

· About The Author.

· Ways To Contact The Author.

· Book Chapters And Content.

· Author Certification And Experience.

· Disclaimer And Terms Of Use Agreement.

Please bear in mind that this particular layout relates to eBooks about training for instance. Mostly, my eBooks are about ways to make money online and serve as illustrated guides.

In this case, you must prove you are a professional in your field. Hence, the Author Certification And Experience part. The layout might be different for each genre.

Note To The Reader.

This is kind of like a short disclosure. In the event of training eBooks this must include (as instructed by BookRix) that “This eBook is a guide and serves as a first guide. In addition, please get expert advice”.

Or with medical-related content, “This eBook is a guide and serves as an initial guide. As a person affected, it is advisable to additionally seek professional advice or to consult a doctor/psychologist/….”.

Introduction.

This is a summary of what can be expected from the eBook content. This should also be included in the “Book Info” because then it displays next to your eBook cover in all major bookstores.

The introduction is your chance to create curiosity and make people want to know more by buying your eBook. An example is illustrated below.

Table Of Contents.

As with most areas as a table of contents, with articles and blog posts, the table of contents includes your H2 headers. With eBooks, the table of contents includes your chapters.

About The Author.

Introduce yourself to your readers, and write as if you’re standing right in front of them, introducing yourself. Who you are, your interests, how you came to a career in writing and the obstacles you faced. Just introduce yourself, with style and integrity.

Ways To Contact The Author.

Include things like your blog or website and a few major social profile links. Give your readers a means of contacting you. Because your blogs and websites especially should also provide an option to contact you via email.

This forms part of being transparent and proving to your reader that you are who you say you are.

Book Chapters And Content.

Inside the BookRix editor, you will enter all your chapter content, along with all the above-mentioned content. But we will get to the BookRix on-site editor guidance in a bit.

This is where you use your Medium articles as eBook chapters. But edit the titles and content to be more eBook-befitting.

Author Certification And Experience.

4 Of the eBooks I have published in 4 volumes about making money writing on Medium, required this confirmation. Therefore, they are still in review, after I made the necessary changes as instructed by a BookRix email.

Therefore, I included things like my Diamond Expert Author Certification, along with various certified SEO courses.

I published eBooks to guide someone through writing and making money with Medium. BookRix simply wants to know if I have the required experience to offer legit, actionable, quality content, and guidance with regards to writing and SEO.

Disclaimer And Terms Of Use Agreement.

Perhaps this one you might have to do a little research on. Based on the genre of your eBook. The Disclaimer And Terms Of Use Agreement is kind of like a binding agreement between you and the reader or buyer.

This is the legal side of publishing, and if you need help simply reach out to BookRix support. They will happily guide you.

Remember that although this is “self-publishing”, it is also legal publishing because your eBook gets an ISBN (International Standard Book Number).

This means you have a legal publishing agreement with BookRix, and they are listed as the publishers at the back of your eBook, alongside the ISBN. That protects you from people copying your content.

With a legal ISBN, you are well within your rights to use legal action for unauthorized content use. You can even claim damages as a result of illegally using your content

Using your most read Medium articles and eBook pricing.

Based on the eBook title you choose, use your Medium articles related to the topic. But also include your target keywords in the eBook title. Like with any other writing strategy, be it blogging, Medium, or even LinkedIn.

Your eBook title, like an article title, becomes a slug to the primary domain. In this case, BookRix.

As mentioned before, you are going to have to edit your Medium articles slightly, and you might want to do some research on the likings of eBook chapter content.

Change the titles to more befitting eBook chapter titles. Remove your Medium article table of contents, and perhaps the footer area where applicable.

But you will quickly get the hang of it, I am sure of that. You can choose to turn Medium articles into profitable eBooks, and then give them away for free. However, this will prevent your book from being made available in many bookstores, like Amazon.

Best eBook pricing (in my opinion and experience) ranges from $2.99 to $9.99. Selling eBooks below $2.99 will influence your earning percentage with certain online bookstores.

I would advise sticking to around $2.99, but eBook prices are usually calculated, based on word counts or the number of pages. My eBooks range from 10,000 to 40,000 words. My pricing is set at $2.99 for 20,000 words and less. While I raise the price to $3.99 for eBooks of 40,000 words and more.

You want to sell your eBook at the cheapest price of $2.99, that way you are also increasing the chances for more sales. This is an affiliate marketing strategy, so don’t be too concerned with how much you sell your eBooks for.

You are going to include the canonical URL to the Medium story in your eBook, at the end of each chapter. This will then redirect to the original Medium story, where, as an affiliate marketer.

Medium allows you to include affiliate offers in articles, providing you include the necessary disclaimers. But please read the Medium Rules about that.

Create a high-quality eBook cover and the BookRix Editor.

You can easily create stunning book covers with Canva, by using the “book cover” template. Or, you can choose to create your eBook cover with the images provided inside the BookRix editor.

The decision is entirely up to you. Focus on creating curiosity through relatable design.

Upon adding your content for your eBook in the BookRix editor, after clicking on “Create New Book” on the top-right-hand side next to your profile image.

This will open a window where you will need to enter the eBook title, you can always change that later. Because you cannot proceed unless you enter a book title.

With this AI Children’s Book Maker, you can generate children’s books about anything, and illustrate them in minutes! Don’t have any ideas? It’ll come up with those too! Besides, you have nothing to lose, because you get a full refund if you don’t like what you see! — Source

Once you have entered the book title, click on “Create Book”. Next, you will be redirected to your eBook editing page, which will allow you 3 editing options.

You must complete all 3 areas before your eBook can be reviewed for publishing. These 3 editing options are listed below.

· Edit Book Content (Chapters And Content).

· Edit Book Info (Title, Tagline, Author, Blurp, Categories, etc.)

· Edit Cover (Upload And Sizing)

Illustrated below, is a blank page with only the eBook title. This is where you should be if you followed the steps correctly. This is also where you want to ensure that “All Shops”, “Library Services”, and “Flatrate Services” are selected at the bottom of the eBook editor page.

This will make your eBook available in all major online bookstores, once approved.

When you “Edit Book Content”, you will have 2 options. You can choose “File Upload”, or you can choose “Type In Content”. I strongly advise using the latter and entering your chapters individually.

Simply add the chapter title (Medium article edited title), and then add the chapter or “Medium article” content. Don’t forget to save your work once you’re done.

When selecting the “Edit Cover” option, a new pop-up page will open similar to the one illustrated below. As you can see, I already have several images uploaded.

This is also where you can choose from book covers by BookRix. But you can upload your own when you use Canva for example.

Once your book cover is displayed, pay attention to the area below the book cover as illustrated. Be sure to select “Adjust Image To Cover”, and then “Original Size”.

Remember, with Canva, you have created a book cover, therefore, the original size must be selected. The image is already in “book cover” format.

Turn Medium Articles Into Profitable eBooks Completely Free Adding Your Book Cover
Author account screenshot. The image screenshot was captured with “Paint 3D”. Shared by Deon Christie for demonstration and illustration purposes. The author assumes responsibility for the provenance and copyright. The author assumes responsibility for the authenticity.

You can also add images when you edit your eBook content, spicing up your display and layout. A well-designed book cover and high-quality content are the keys to speeding up the review and approval process. Although I do believe I have a winning structure here.

With 8 eBooks out of 14 already published and available in all major online bookstores.

However, while your eBook is in review with BookRix, visitors to your BookRix profile can still view your eBook. When you are editing the eBook, unfortunately, it will not display in your profile area for visitors.

When you want to edit an already published eBook, then you will have to submit a request to do so.

This might take a day or two before your book is removed, and made available for editing. But you will receive an email from BookRix when your eBook is ready for editing.

Next, as illustrated below, we move on to the “Book Info” section.

Turn Medium Articles Into Profitable eBooks Completely Free Editing Your Book Info
Author account screenshot. The image screenshot was captured with “Paint 3D”. Shared by Deon Christie for demonstration and illustration purposes. The author assumes responsibility for the provenance and copyright. The author assumes responsibility for the authenticity.

You must complete all the areas with the book info, or you will have difficulties publishing.

Important areas include — Title, Subtitle (Tagline), Author’s First And Last Name, Category On BookRix, Categories For Sale, Blurp (Displayed Next To Your Book Cover In Bookstores), Dedication, Keywords, Language, and copyright information.

Copyright information is a drop-down menu, if you have created all the content, images, and eBook layout, then your full name goes into all areas.

If you had someone design your eBook cover for example, then their names will be entered in the “Images Copyright Holder”, or “Copyright Cover” areas.

Editing your eBook content is pretty easy from inside the BookRix editor, simply enter the chapters and the content that goes with it. Then edit the content.

You will notice that the BookRix editor pastes the text with no spaces, when you leave it as is, then it might play a role in ease of reading. Be sure to add spaces between headers, sentences and paragraphs.

Although this is a way to turn Medium articles into profitable eBooks, don’t you think it kind of resembles “Buy Me A Coffee”? At $2.99, I think it’s just a polished “Buy Me A Coffee” strategy. And I just thought of that, by the way. When someone tips you on stories or buys you a coffee.

They do so because they enjoy your content. Only with this “polished” version, do they get something in return. Within your chapters, I had no problem with publishing while including canonical URLs to the Medium stories used as eBook chapters.

This is where the “affiliate marketing magic” happens. A canonical link is placed to prevent search engine confusion, stipulating that the content was published elsewhere before.

Therefore, this is also an exposure strategy to attract more readers to your Medium articles.

Turn Medium Articles Into Profitable eBooks Completely Free Including The Medium Canonical URL
Author account screenshot. The image screenshot was captured with “Paint 3D”. Shared by Deon Christie for demonstration and illustration purposes. The author assumes responsibility for the provenance and copyright. The author assumes responsibility for the authenticity.

As illustrated above, the exact way I include the canonical Medium URL. But please DO NOT COPY this text as is and use it for yourself.

Remember, my published eBooks have ISBNs, which means this content is copyrighted. You will have to come up with your text here.

As illustrated below, find a collection of eBooks I published by using selected Medium articles. With exclusion to the “Children’s Books”, where I used AI to create children’s stories! But, that was disclosed with the “Note To The Reader”.

These 4 volumes are already published in all major online bookstores. Under review are the 4 volume Medium Writing eBooks, and “Free Work From Home Jobs eBook”.

After I made the necessary changes, as instructed by BookRix, eBooks In Review will be published shortly.

You can select reading samples for my published eBooks, to get a better idea of the introductory and legal side of eBook publishing. These are usually included in reading samples.

Like “About The Author”, “Ways To Contact The Author”, “Table Of Contents”, “Author Certification And Experience”, and “Disclaimer And Terms Of Use Agreement”.

Therefore, with the reading samples, you will have a pretty good idea of this layout part of your eBook. Simply visit my BookRix profile, and choose from any of the current 14 eBooks to check on the suggested layout below.

>> Deon Christie On BookRix <<

You might want to pay attention to the profile display too, because as with any other profile. You must complete your profile as professionally as possible.

With BookRix publishing, your profile also serves as an introduction to their 131,500 monthly visitors. Your eBook will be selling on BookRix too.

About using AI and including canonical URLs in eBooks.

These disclaimers should be included in the “Note To The Reader”, and “Disclaimer And Terms Of Use Agreement” areas. The screenshot below is from a “reading sample” and shows the rest of the notes on the next page.

But this is just to give you a better idea. You will notice I mentioned that the eBook is a collection of my Medium articles.

Turn Medium Articles Into Profitable eBooks Completely Free Note To The Reader Example
Author account screenshot. The image screenshot was captured with “Paint 3D”. Shared by Deon Christie for demonstration and illustration purposes. The author assumes responsibility for the provenance and copyright. The author assumes responsibility for the authenticity.

On the next page, I state things like the canonical URL being included at the end of each chapter. As mentioned earlier, here too, please DO NOT COPY this text and use it as your own.

You will be violating copyright laws in doing so. Let’s not go there, shall we?

This entire strategy is based on personal testing, this is how I know what will be allowed, and what will not. With affiliate links in the eBooks themselves, I would advise just sticking with the Medium canonical URLs, and from your Medium articles, then redirecting to your affiliate offers.

But you will never pay for publishing, they only take their “cut” from your book sales. If you do not have book sales, which I strongly doubt, providing you offer quality.
