Cory Nieves Didn’t Wait For Someone to Lead Him

This morning I read an interesting piece from Tim Denning explaining why Millennials are so difficult to manage. He concludes by suggesting that it is ‘our’ responsibility to change the way we lead Millennials. What if there was a generation of Americans who weren’t waiting for leaders — but a generation of leaders who were willing to take on entrepreneurial risks themselves? That is what we are seeing with members of Generation Z like Cory Nieves.

Cory was only six years old when he began thinking of businesses he could start. Eventually he created the ‘perfect chocolate chip cookie’ that is now sold retail stores in every state in America. Retailers like Pottery Barn, Whole Foods, J. Crew, and Williams Sonoma all carry his products. Today he is the head of a multi-million dollar business.

I’m a member of Generation X and over the years I’ve realized I’m very difficult to manage — as a result I’ve started my own businesses. Traditionally Millennials would do the same, but the number of startups has declined significantly during the Millennial generation as a result of their failure to embrace capitalism and the American Dream.

I wrote Gen Z Startup to give entrepreneurs like Cory Nieves a leg up. If you’re thinking about starting your own business you should give it a read (if you can’t afford the paperback or kindle edition DM me and I’ll send you a free copy).

Generation Z is now the largest generation in the United States and is the best educated and most diverse in our country’s history. They’re also the most likely to build their own businesses — just like Cory. For more information about Generation Z check out the Gen Z Trends Report HERE.

The Millennials gave up on the American Dream — it turns out Generation Z are already living it…
