Molly Cain is joining

I am excited to announce that Molly Cain will be joining Sumo as a Venture Partner. In addition to running Glass Heel and exploring other opportunities, Molly will be sourcing investment opportunities for Sumo. She’ll be holding office hours at the Investor Hub at the DEC — stay tuned.

Several years ago I had the pleasure of meeting Molly Cain when she was named as one of Dallas’ 40 under 40 for her work as Vice President of Marketing with Comerica Bank. At the same time she was furiously writing for Forbes and Glass Heel on topics ranging from leadership to entrepreneurship — I was impressed and knew I wanted to work with her. I was able to convince her to join me as co-founder of ViewMarket (venture-backed rollup of media properties including CultureMap and RSVP) where we spent endless hours scrambling and pivoting to build a sustainable business.

Two years ago my long-time friend, Gabriella Draney, told me she was looking for someone to take over the day-to-day operations at Tech Wildcatters — the #5 startup accelerator in the world according to Inc Magazine. I knew it was the perfect position for Molly — I was torn, but I knew it would be a HUGE opportunity for her and decided to convince Gabriella to hire her. I was right. Under her leadership, the program has flourished and almost in spite of the success of the program she successfully remade the program into what is known as the Gauntlet : merit-based startup acceleration and funding.

Not surprisingly, Molly is being courted by a number of organizations. In the meantime (and hopefully afterward) she will be sourcing deals for Sumo as a Venture Partner. Please help me welcome her back!
