Beginnings are great! Everything is new, everything is fresh, everything is raring to go!

We have decided to quit our jobs and start up. It was a decision long pending, and it finally happened. For a year now, we have been pondering over the right time to do it, and suddenly we realized that any time is the right time. And so it is now.

Beginnings are hard! Nothing exists, chaos reigns, fear dominates!

We tried ideating before we quit, but it didn’t work. The mindspace wasn’t there. The last time we quit, we had an idea. But it was a shitty idea born out of a desperate need to create a plan B before we quit our jobs. And it didn’t work. So this time, we decided to quit first and then clear our heads before we get on the journey again.

Beginnings are discrete! Fire the starting gun, turn on the ignition, enter stage right!

The next step is to communicate this to all key stakeholders involved: our workplace and our family. There are mixed reactions, we have to set expectations and transition things smoothly. Some conversations at work are not so smooth, but they never will be! Thankfully, folks at home are supportive since they have seen us do this before.

The deed is done! We are out, officially unemployed (or as I call it, in stealth mode ;)) and ready to get on the road! There is no plan B — we need to create a plan A now.

Beginnings are continuous! The end of a chapter and the start of the next…

On the road again! I’m missing my visiting card when I meet people professionally. It is so easy to define your identity with a designation and a company, printed neatly on a shareable piece of paper. Instead, try saying, “Hi, I don’t have a card because I’m not doing anything these days”.

Reactions range from smiles to smirks, congratulations to I-don’t-believe-you, enjoy-your-break to let-me-help-out. In the end, everyone asks the same thing — what are you doing next?

Want to know? Stay tuned!
