Audio Innovation Challenge

Audio Platforms Category Mapping 2022 by Clairvoyants.

We are a group of students in the field of Marketing and Communications at Panteion University of Political and Social Sciences in Athens,Greece. Our shared love for inspiration, innovation and action united us in order to create our own team at the AD and PR Lab under the supervision of Ms. Betty Tsakarestou Associate Professor & Head of Advertising and Public Relations Lab Department of Communication, Media and Culture Panteion University.

In the context of our Startup Innovation Lab ,during our session with Ms. Domnika Skreta(Ηead of Marketing, Communications & Digital Strategy | Antenna Music), we were called to think out of the box and create an audio platform that is going to differentiate from the others existent in Greece.The groundbreaking element of this project is that this innovative audio platform will have a social impact, to be more specific, it will actually contribute in the solution of a social problem. Our responsibility as students, young people and future professionals is to understand the value of inspiring and creating innovative solutions for society. Our actions have an immense impact on the social whole.

Our first step of this journey was to conduct research and use the proper methodology and tools in order to find all the useful information that was going to help us understand the market, measure the elements and the data and finally find an opportunity to “invest” in the proper innovative idea. Our research was concentrated in the deficiencies of the Greek market compared to the Global by starting off with the second.

According to our survey, the global market is divided into four main categories, including Music Platforms(Spotify,Soundcloud, Tidal, Itunes ,Google Play Music etc), Audio Podcast Platforms (Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify , Overcast etc), Social Platforms (Twitter Spaces, Spoon, Racket etc) and Audio Books (Audible,Google Audiobooks, Librivox etc). The podcast platforms mentioned are mainly included in the sub-categories of Display/Discovery and Hosting within the Podcast category. Nevertheless there are other categories available in the global level such as Recording (SquadCast, zencastr,zoom,ecamm), Editing (ALITU,Anchor, PRO TOOLS, Au), Monetisation (Podwave,patreon,megaphone) and Analytics (Chartable,blubrry,FIRESIDE,PODTRAC).

Our Greek Market Category Mapping included Audio Podcast Platforms (Pod.gr, Greekpodcast.com,PodcastProject.gr etc) Audio Books (Auvril,Bookvoice, eBooks4Greeks, etc) and Radio (dromosfm,kissfm,Athens Deejay, Sfera etc). In Greece regarding the Music Platforms we are hosting the global ones (Spotify Music,Google Play, iTunes, Youtube Music etc).

We should mention that there are no Greek platforms for music streaming, or any audio platforms with a social aspect, as well as sub-categories of the Podcast Platforms mentioned. The Greek market utilizes platforms provided by multinational or foreign companies.
