Blockvalue: From idea to building a prototype

A Start Up idea designed for #StartUpLab vertical of #ADandPRLAB, at Panteion University, assigned by Spiros Kapetanakis and Betty Tsakarestou, Head of #ADandPRLAB, under the supervision of Katerina Vlassopoulou.

The adblock phenomen is without any doubt one of the greatest challenges that both publishers & advertisers should combat. It’s common knowledge that intrusive ad formats like pop-ups and full screen web overs with autoplay video & sound in many cases, led to an unpleasant user browsing experience. Thus, adblock software succeeded into providing users with a ‘’better’’ user experience through blocking every ad displayed on a website. Unfortunately, there seems to be a great lack of knowledge regarding that ads are mandatory for publishers as they are an important(if not in many cases) the only source of revenue. Adblock undisputably contributes to a great loss of that revenue. Researching the adblock field, we found out that :

1 ) Publishers had a great lack of adblock users data and the resulting ad revenue loss.

2) Almost 2/3 of the adblock software users are willing to unistall it if publishers truly respect their browsing experience

Taking into account those insights, we went forward creating Blockvalue, a complete platform that aims to alleviate the ‘’adblock’’ pain both for publishers & advertisers.

  • an adblock detection& analytics solution for publishers
  • social content experiments
  • direct deal native ads .
