#StartUpLab IOT Challenge

This semester I had the opportunity to be a member of a very creative Lab and to test myself in a provocative project. So, me and my team, m-AD man and girls, were asked to come up against IOT challenge. A challenge, which allowed us to deal with the very expanding IOT techmology. IOT technology affects more and more sectors of everyday life of modern human, as more and more smart devices are connected daily and the produced and distributed data and information among them gets enormous size.

In this background, as a team we discussed a lot and had a lot of brainstorming in order to find a field, where we believed that there would be produced some value after the exploitation of those data and info, that can be exchanged between smart devices through IOT technology. The result of all this procedure was to conclude that there is an almost unexploited material and data at the field of prenatal check.

So, we focused in trying to find a simple way for every parent to watch their babies, during pregnancy, and simultaneously all resulted data to be gathered. Somehow like this, we conceptualised the idea of a portable ultrasound device. Via this device, every mother will have the ability to watch her baby as frequently as she wants and at the same time she will be able to keep images, information etc. in her smartphone, connected to the ultrasound device.

As a next step, we conducted nearly 40 interviews with mothers, fathers or futured parents, in order to gather insights about this field of the prenatal check. As a result we established that the strong majority of interviewees showed deep interest about our idea and generally about the material that would be provided by the use of this portable ultrasound device. So, we arrived at the value proposition of our idea, which is the sentimental connection between parents and baby and the constant need and desire of future parent to assure the normal growing up of their baby and, at the same time, to gather memories and emotional moments of pregnancy. Thanks to our teammate Joanna Gkouma we concluded to the visualization of our idea. A prototype is pictured here :

Through these 3 months of the #StartUpLab I realised the meaning and importance of the team and cooperation, in order to achieve great things. As a conclusion, I believe that the only way to gain things by this procedure is to be authentic and not to be afraid to express any single idea or opinion, even more naive and foolish you may believe that it is.

Many thanks to my team Eftychia Past, Joanna Gkouma and Φωτεινή Τσώκου for the great experience !
