The Blueground Innovation Challenge : By ADicted- The new Era

For the Blueground Innovation Challenge we were given a list of eight cities and we had to choose one that is the best for the Blueground to expand to. After a lot of research we decided that Toronto is one of the most ideal Cities that blueground could be expanded successfully. There are a lot of reasons that we thought Toronto is the best city. Initially, Toronto hast the biggest population rating in Canada, which is estimated at 6,196,73 and a growth rate, that reaches up to1.10% according to world population review.com, which provides accurate analytics about every single town in the world. Secondly, Toronto has evolved into the financial capital of Canada and is considered to be on of the top financial centers in the world, surpassing Boston, Zurichand WashingtonD.C. As a result, As a result of its economic driving force, Toronto’s influence is worldwide. It hosts huge worldwide businesses that would help in the development of Real Estate such as banks, media, publishing telecommunication and manufacturing activities.

Quality of life.

Toronto’s quality of life is ideal for investing in Real Estate. There is a very low crime rate and it has been considered as one of the greenest towns world wide. In addition, when it comes for safety, Toronto is considered to be one of the safest cities to live. Safety comes first for customers when living in a new place, so staying in the city will give our customers a quiet and a pleasant accomodation. As for our client’s transportation, Toronto city has one of the best transit system, so our costumers can easily transfer in the city without the need of a vehicle.

Our Competitors.

We found out that we have a lot of competitors such as Sonder, Zumper, Torontorentals.com, rentseeker e.t.c. The most important competitors are Sonder and Zumper.

Sonder is a Tech-driven hospitality company with short and medium rentals services and also comfortable apartments designed and outfitted. Sonder’s target audience are business travelers,city residents looking for a furnished apartment,property management companies and real estate development companies.

On the other hand, Zumper is a full service home and apartment rental platform that enables users to reach and find apartments for rent. Zumper has Over 80 million renters annually.Through theZumper app, people can search listing and apply for a rental.Zumper makes profit by charging landlords every time a lease closes.

Localizing the message.

To localize the messaging, we had to decide if we should have content in a local language (and to highlight any messaging changes). It’s widely known that English is still the majority language(55.6%) in the metropolitan region of Toronto. However there is a 20.6% of the Canadian population that French is their mother tongue. As a result, we decided to have our message in these two main languages:

«Make yourself feel at home» and «Mettez-vous à l’aise».

Suggested locations for investing.

We thought that these locations will be ideal for bluegrounda expansion for the below reasons:

First it’s the Davisville village, which is an attractive area, near the city centre. It is serviced by two subway stations. There are also many choices to spend free timeand is excellent nightlife-ideal for young adults.

Secondly, Liberty village has a vast number of business hubs located here and it’s very popular neighborhood for young professionals. There are also many choices for spending free time and an excellent transportation system.

In addition, Harbourfront is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful locations in Toronto, just on the Ontario lake’s coast.In this region there are notable buildings and facilities ( theme parks,ship docks,cultural happenings,federal government land, etc).There is also a transportation system with streetcars mainly.

Moreover, Yorkville is Considered as “high-end shopping district”-upscale shopping,restaurants,hotels, etc. There are headquarters of many important companies/organizations.It’s location is very near to the city centre.

Last but not least, Islington city Centre is a Commercial and residential neighborhood with couple of parks located there, along with some companies,Subway station. It’s also ideal for young professionals.

Headquarters.

We decided to be located in Mississauga, which it may be a diferrent city from Toronto, but it’s actually located just next to it and there is easy access to Toronto. It’s also a central business district as many companies headquarters are located there.

Classifieds.

Our top 3 classifieds is Kijiji,craigslist and rentals.ca.

Kijiji is considered to be one of the most popular classifieds in Canada. It operates as a centralized network of online communities, organized by city for posting local advertisements.

In addition, Graigslist is an American classified website with all types af advertisements. Its goal is to provide to people a helpful way to connect with other people in other communities. Most categories of Graigslist are free.

Rentals.ca is a specific site for large cities such as Toronto. The site has the two main languages of Canada, English and French.There is also the ability to search a lot of apartments of the city and compare the rent, the quality of the apartment and the cost.

Top 10 media publications.

We decided that our 10 media publications will be the urban Toronto, La presse, cbc , tbnewswatch.com, The star, ctv, observer, the globe and mail, global nationaland the M. We think that the most important publications are the ctv and the clobe and mail for the bellow reasons:

Globe and mail is printed in five cities in western and central Canada. It’s also Canada’s most widely read newspaper on weekdays and Saturdays and is also regarded by some as Canada’s newspaper of record.

Ctv is a Canadian-English language terrestrial television network.It is considered to be Canada’s largest privately owned television network.

Our last step, is the press release that we created, which will announcing our expansion to Toronto.
