‘When an innovative start-up meets the music’
A start-up is a company initiated by individual entrepreneurs to search for a repeatable business model. Nowadays many start-ups have been created and have been oriented to many different factors. More specifically , we are going to refer to the music factor. Beyond doubh, YOUTUBE is the dominant platform for music and videos but not anymore. Innovation has also touched the music startups. New applications and platforms come to replace every traditional one, helping both artists and their followers. A fairly successful application ,widely known to amateur artists is WAV where artists can upload their songs and make them public. WAV was created in 2015 and counts up to today over 34.4k users on instagram, 15k on facebook and millions users on the application, and of course, has a channel on youtube with subscribers touching 16k. But let’s analyse it more carefully .
WAV is a music application which basically creates a digital community where, on the one hand, all the artists can share their content and, on the other hand, the fans of music can discover new artists that fit their tastes in music. Somebody can either be registered as an “artist” or as a “fan”. This platform also allows artists to even create their own visualizers to go with their music. It has even been said by a user (@BebeO-Hare) that “WAV is the future of music, media, and so much more.”
This platform includes not only professional music of known artists but at the same time amateur artists. What we could say, is that basically everything can be discoverable through this application, which means that every kind of “fan” can be satisfied. For example, let’s say that somebody wants to be up-to-date with new tracks, hot hits etc., in WAV they can easily be updated always according to their personal taste (which they get to make clear during their registration process where they choose as many preferred species as they want). At the same time, WAV allows to discover new artists .
Apart from the tracks, it also includes videos of lives, videoclips, even series of episodes and interviews. In other words, WAV is an artist community, rich in content that varies in great lengths. It includes different kinds of videos made by artists (interviews, documentaries, challenges, clips, etc.), which reminds youtube. But at the same time, it has a clear focus on music, creation, embracing creativity and up coming artists, and also it focuses on discovering. WAV opens completely new paths, and it breaks down old time’s barriers, such as geographical boundaries, famous-not famous boundaries, and it embraces a freedom of creativity and expression for everyone that wants to artistically express themselves.
Music startups gain ground more and more in the world of virtual reality. Application WAV has the perception that music is rather an identity than an industry and that was the reason for them to create such an innovation in the world of applications and music. The interest of this application is not limited to artists but is also centered around fans and music. Via that application you are able to browse through the artist community as well as your preferred music genres like hip-hop and pop including both visual and audio content. Moreover you have the ability to bring together a community that can offer you support.It is of primary importance that both well-known and independent or amateur artists have benefits including supervision from music industry experts. Everyone can support financially for future music, video and live stream through donations .Finally, that application offers a real world marketing as well as performance opportunities for artists. In simple words this application is unbeatable!
