Working on Internet of things startup challenge at AD&PR lab — mAD man and girls team.

As a member of mAD man and girls team (Φωτεινή Τσώκου, Eftychia Past, Sakis Anagno ) of startup-lab, I had the chance to work for a creative startup project that was about the Internet of things technology and new ways of advertising connected with this technology.The first step of our challenge was to detect a problem related with the challenge’s theme and after having made a research we were called to find a solution .

The problem …

At first,we decided to work on the creation of a portable ultrasound device suitable for pre-birth stages of baby (fetus) that can be connected with smart devices and give the image of fetus at any time parents want.More specifically the problem we detected was that the present technology (doctor’s ultrasound and other devices that are on incipient stages) doesn’t create special value for parents-users.Also it doesn’t filter the necessary information — Data (about the fetus) that parents really need to receive.

The solution …

Our solution to the problems was to create a Prototype example of a highly portable ultrasound device that connects directly to cell phones or other devices in wifi network with amazing offering high levels of portability and enabling users to have the image of fetus at any time. Parents will have the opportunity to save screenshots or videos of the unborn fetus’ moments (probably via application or a platform).An advertisement or a button that connects video creators or other specialists with parents will be displayed in order to create a “best of” fetus’ moments or analyse its characteristics in order to give parents how will the future baby’s image propably be.By this way we create special value for parents as it is very important for them not only to watch the baby’s progress but also to live it with him\her.This is also a good way of saving some so special memories in a professional way.By adding a video creator’s advertisement we also solve the problem of useless information because this is something that all parents would be interested in.

Getting feedback from our target group!

We understood in this project that we really need to have some insights in order to make choices and changes to our startup idea.This was a very helpful experience for us not only because it made us take final decisions but also because it made us understand that it is not that we only believe but that target’s group opinion is this that really counts!More specifically in people’s answers we realized that there are many issues that we hadn’t thought of yet and they were really helpful.

What this project gave to me ???

The fist thing I have to say about what this project gave to me that it was a very strong experience .Except of these, it also taught me to work on a team and friendly environment and despite the fact that we worked under pressure (deadline for idea’s creation) it taught me the way to enjoy it !The top moment of this trip I would certainly say that was our final presentation on #ImpactHubAthens ,where we received precious feedback of experts and feel that we worked in a professional environment too.
