MacRumors, which publishes both confirmed news and rumors about Apple products, has reported that MacBook Air models with Retina displays have problems with anti-glare coating. They lie in the fact that the screens wear out over time and become dirty, as if covered with pale white spots. As a proof of this news, the portal cites a note that the corporation sent to its authorized service providers. How MacRumors got access to the note is not reported.

According to the published information, the anti-glare coating of displays is subject to wear due to contact with the keys and trackpad when the laptop is closed, as well as with regular use of cleaning solutions. This problem has affected laptops released after October 2018.

Previously, Apple has officially announced the possible problems of its other laptops with Retina displays. These include the 13- and 15-inch MacBook Pros and the discontinued 12-inch MacBooks from 2015–2017.

In 2015, Apple introduced a free repair program for worn-out laptop displays in some countries. However, in this case, according to MacRumors, there was no information in the Apple note regarding the offers of a free repair. With Apple’s official stores and authorized service providers currently closed in most countries due to the coronavirus outbreak, there will most likely be no official announcement from the corporation on this issue in the near future.
