Made by Google 2024, the annual presentation of new products by Google, took place on August 13. In one of our previous articles, we analyzed the assumptions regarding what new products would be announced at this event. Let’s see how true they were and what products were actually presented to the public this year.

Gemini Live Voice Assistant

Gemini Live is a new intelligent chatbot that will function on devices with Android OS. You can have a voice conversation with it: it can find answers to questions asked by the user, generate emails, make playlists and offer creative ideas, and can quickly switch or end a dialogue on demand. Based on the review on the TechCrunch portal, the chatbot has not yet been brought to perfection: sometimes it gives inaccurate answers or does not fully grasp the essence of the conversation, but it can still really help in moments when it’s not convenient to search for information manually. At the moment, Gemini Live only works in voice format, but in the future the company plans to add the ability to recognize video.

Pixel 9 smartphone lineup with Gemini AI integration

Google has unveiled 4 new smartphones: the foldable Pixel 9 Fold Pro and three standard variants – Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL. They feature a higher resolution compared to the previous lineup (1280x2856 versus 1080x2424), and the screen brightness has been increased by 35% to 2700 nits. The smartphones use ultra-strong Gorilla Glass Victus 2. All devices are equipped with improved and slightly redesigned cameras. The lineup is powered by Tensor G4 and Titan M2 chips. The standard model has 12 GB of RAM, while the Pro models have 16 GB. The battery capacity is 4700 mAh and 5060 mAh, respectively. According to the stated specifications, all three devices should work up to 24 hours on a single charge, or up to 100 hours with the battery saving mode enabled.

The line includes the Gemini AI chatbot, which has become a replacement for the Google Assistant voice assistant (if desired, the bot can be disabled and continue to use the old version of the Assistant).

Pixel Watch 3

The Google watch line has been replenished with a new model with a larger screen diameter (45 mm versus 41 mm in previous models). The screen brightness has been doubled (from 1000 to 2000 nits). The chip and processor remain the same – Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 5100 and Cortex M33. The battery capacity of the 41 mm is 306 mAh, and of the 45 mm – 420 mAh. The declared operating time is up to 24 hours on a single charge with the display always on, and up to 36 hours in power saving mode.

The watch is equipped with AI functions, the main one being the detection of pulse issues, including in situations such as cardiac arrest, respiratory failure, fainting, intoxication, etc., with subsequent automatic call to emergency services.

Pixel Buds Pro 2 Headphones

The updated line of in-ear headphones is developed for the first time on the Tensor A1 chip. The size of the headphones has decreased by 27% compared to their predecessors, due to which the data processing speed has increased. One charge of the headphones lasts 12 hours of work, and the case – 48 hours. The noise cancellation function has also been improved – now it reduces external noise twice as much.

Pixel Studio Image Generator App

Pixel Studio is a new image generator app based on the Imagen 3 model, which will be pre-installed on Pixel 9 smartphones. It allows you to generate images based on text prompts, edit them and add stickers to them. The product will reportedly not generate images with human faces to avoid misuse.

Call Notes feature for summarizing phone conversations

Another AI feature that will be available on the new Pixel smartphones is the ability to decipher phone conversations and transcribe them into Notes. This option can be disabled if desired.

Smart search by screenshots

The new Pixel Screenshots app will allow you to quickly search for information on screenshots saved on your smartphone using AI analysis of text, faces, and objects in the screenshot.
