Welcome, Megan!
We’re excited to welcome Megan Shaw to Innovation Works as a Portfolio Executive on our Life Sciences team! Megan brings a diverse set of experiences that will be valuable for helping life science companies in the region, including through our AlphaLab Health accelerator program.
Megan understands first-hand what it takes to help startup companies get through multiple stages of growth — she helped grow a point-of-care diagnostic startup, HemoSonics, from initial product definition to exit. There, as VP of Marketing and Business Development, Megan played many leadership roles including developing the go-to-market approach, leading the Commercial Leadership Team that launched the product in Europe, building out the corporate infrastructure (HR, Legal, Accounting, etc.), and leading company due diligence efforts during fundraising and M&A.
In addition, Megan’s strategy consulting and private equity experience will help formulate our investment and program strategies for the Life Sciences sector; she has advised and evaluated a wide range of companies with different technologies and business models. Most recently, she worked with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) on its Rapid Acceleration of Diagnostics (RADx) program to help expand the availability of COVID-19 diagnostics by evaluating novel technologies for their ability to scale up and address national testing requirements.
Finally, Megan brings a new perspective and additional networks to the Pittsburgh Life Sciences ecosystem, having moved here in 2016 from Philadelphia where she was active in the entrepreneurial and life science scenes. She previously lived in Boston, Columbus, and Charlottesville, VA. She is happy to have settled with her family in Pittsburgh and is eager to meet fellow entrepreneurs.
