When you are an entrepreneur the last thing you expect in life is to have a day without problems. Just like Charlie Chaplin used to say a day without laughter is a day wasted, same is the case with an entrepreneur. For an entrepreneur a day without problems in the life of an entrepreneur is a day not well spent.

And this is one lesson everyone can take from the book of successful entrepreneurs. But how does this creed of successful entrepreneurs become so adept at problem solving?

In this post we are going to talk about some of those secrets that make problems the best friend for a successful entrepreneur. And, how you can implement those lessons in your life.

It’s not about the solution, it’s about the problem first

The basic difference between a normal person and a successful entrepreneur is the way they look at problems. Browse through the success stories of any of the big names in the entrepreneurial directory and you will see that they have had one thing in common — they first emphasized on searching for a great problem first and then found a great solution for it.

Even Einstein is quoted as having said ,” if I have one hour to save the world, I’d spend 55 minutes defining the problem — and 5 minutes solving it.”

Sadly enough though, most of us get too focused on finding the solution for a problem that we forget to analyze what could be the most potent root cause for it. Why did the problem arise in the first place? That’s exactly what pioneers and great leaders do. They take time to understand the problem first and then begin with investing time on its solution.

All life is problem solving

‘The best leaders in the world are the best problem solvers.’ Karl Popper

And it’s not that problems are part of a business only — they surround us everywhere. And successful in life are the people who are able to solve these problems without losing their patience.

So, what is it that makes these leaders so good at solving problems? And can you inculcate those habits in life to become a successful person? The answer is most definitely a yes. Here is a look at the attributes and habits of successful leaders which make them great at problem solving -

Stop viewing problems as distractions

Patience is the most important virtue that a human can posses. But sadly, almost all of us are pretty low when it comes to patience quotient. We lose our calm as soon as a problem approaches and that triggers a panic action in our brain. As a result of this the intensity of the problem rises and hence poor performance.

Successful entrepreneurs on the other hand know that a problem is not a distraction, but an opportunity to improve.

Don’t get caught up in the blame game

It is quite common to observe teams getting stuck in the blame game as soon as a problem arises. But wasting hours discussing who is at fault can lead to slipping away of the precious time, which you could have spent more productively.

When you know there’s something wrong, it is always better to get going with the rectifying and remediation process rather than wasting time repenting upon it. As they say, regretting wasted time is more wasted time.

And once you have rectified the mistake, you can eventually spare some time to figure out the reason why it happened. Not with the intention to blame someone, but to learn a lesson from it so that you can avoid the arrival of any such instances in future.

Stay positive

The bad thing with businesses is that problems come with their repeat mode on. You never know which problem might recur at what time. This is where the power of positivity an d patience becomes the real gift for entrepreneurs. If you want to become successful in your life you need to inculcate the habit of positive thinking.

These three basic steps can lay the foundation for a more balanced and successful life. Ask any of the entrepreneurs who have made it big in their field, and you will get to know that it was their struggle to never give up when the chips were down that took them where they are right now. It was because they made friends with problems rather than making them the foes.

Give these tips a try and you will definitely see a positive change in your life. All the best!
