Smart Port Challenge Singapore, what a day!
I just flew back from Singapore where I was member in the judging panel of the Smart Port Challenge organised by our partner accelerator PIER71. What a day! (…and for me what a tour de force, almost 30 hours of flights in 3 days, but well worth the effort!)
Impeccable organisation by PIER71 and a high quality standard in all participating startups. I’m particularly proud of the only London-based participant BunkerEx which received a special mention from the jury, together with Portcast and AIDA Technologies.
Awesome pitch by John Hahn of the Ocean Freight Exchange which, together with a great business, gained him the first place. Congratulations also to the two runners up Claritecs and SkyLab.
A big thank you to Prof. Wong Poh Kam, Senior Director of NUS Enterprise, and Mr. Andrew Tan, CEO of MPA, for partnering to create PIER71 and such spectacular events. Maritime is moving forward thanks to startup-driven innovation also in Asia and Singapore is taking the lead!
