Firstly, we want to announce that we are rebranding! We received tons of feedback from backers and supporters about our product name and as a result, we have decided to change the name of our product from The Eta Clock to The Stata Clock. The word Stata derives from the concept of state or status — as our clock doesn’t actually tell time, we wanted our name to better reflect our functionality.

We are off to a great start here in 2018. Our highest priority is to you, our customers, which is why we are striving for better transparency in 2018. Therefore, to keep you all better informed of our progress, we are sharing our live roadmap. This means you can see what our teams are working on at anytime, day or night.

Here’s an overview of what we have been up to this month:

  • Our software team has finished their infrastructure update effort and has started working on updating our API.
  • Our mechanics team completed the fabrication of the Stata Clock coasters and prototyping a new design for the Stata Clock electronics enclosure.
  • Our marketing team has been busy with our rebranding effort and a fun, new social media campaign with @wordee_photo — check it out on Instagram.

Software Update

We successfully completed our infrastructure upgrades before the New Year and kicked off 2018 with our second major project — V3 of our iOS app. This involves updates to our main application code and our API, along with the iOS app updates. The features in V3 are driven by the great user feedback we have received over the past 8 months and include:

  1. Backend functionality to handle the Semi-Custom Stata Clock locations
  2. Better invitation functionality — adding and removing users from a clock
  3. Ability to belong to more than one Stata Clock
  4. Ability to toggle active tracking on individual clocks
Some Test-Driven Development (TDD) Fun!

Mechanical Update

Our mechanical team has been handling the fabrication of all the Stata Clock Coasters which has been completed on schedule. All Stata Clock coaster backers should have received tracking information about when their packages will arrive.

The mechanical team has also been busy with updates to the enclosure that houses the Stata Clock electronics. This includes a minor redesign and some DFM improvements. The team was excited to receive their new Raise 3D Printer — which will be used not only for prototyping, but for manufacturing components as well.

Marketing Update

Our marketing team is in the midst of an Instagram giveaway — one lucky person will receive a free coaster set!! Don’t miss your chance to enter our giveaway before Friday.

Our marketing team has also partnered with @wordee_photo, a NYC-based globetrotter named Dee. Dee is a rising star in the real estate industry and travels extensively for business and pleasure. For the past 3 weeks, our team has been sharing stunning photos from her latest trips to Europe and stories of how she and her family use the Stata Clock to stay better connected. We will be following Dee and her travels as she takes off again in February, so stay tuned for more #wanderlust inspiration.

Looking Ahead

The Stata Clock Coasters will arrive at backer’s homes in just a few days, so if you have not received tracking information, please let us know!

In February, our software team will continue working on V3 of the iOS mobile app, expecting to be completed by the end of the month.

The mechanics team will continue their design efforts for the enclosure and begin the axle hub design modifications.

Our marketing team will be following @wordee_photo on a trip to Dublin in February and launching another exciting giveaway at the end of the month.
