June has flown by as we rapidly prepare for shipping. We are targeting our first shipments to go out at the end of July, so for our Early Birds — your clocks are almost on their way!

Here’s an overview of what we were up to this month:

  • Our software team has finished testing over-the-air updates and has begun generating clock builds for manufacturing.
  • Our mechanics team is busy manufacturing and assembling clocks!
  • Our hardware team is still busy coordinating with suppliers to ensure the Stata Clock is delivered on time.

Hopefully, everyone has been staying up-to-date on our progress throughout the month with our live roadmap. Let us know what you think!

Software Update

Our software team has completed all final development and testing of the over-the-air update system — all clocks will now receive regular updates for feature and stability improvements. The team’s main focus is now generating new clock builds, with a unique ID, for each purchased clock. This process takes a bit of time as each clock needs to be generated separately and given unique keys (for security), but we are slowly progressing through the many orders.

This month the team will focus on helping the hardware team assemble the clock’s electronic components and run final acceptance tests.

Just a reminder to everyone with Android phones, we have put our Android App development on-hold while we finished up our iOS app. Our software team will begin development on our Android app post-delivery. If you have any questions about our Android App or our timeline for development, please reach out to support@stataclock.com.

Mechanical Update

The mechanical team is still manufacturing clock parts — all of the axels, hands, gears, and housings have been cut. Our aluminum hands have been sent to the anodizer for color finishing and will be ready for assembly in a few weeks.

This month the team will focus on manufacturing clock faces, axel hubs, and testing the servos.

Hardware Update

Our hardware team has continued to coordinate coordinating with our third-party suppliers to ensure all of our outsourced parts arrive on-time and to-spec.

  • Our aluminum hands were sent to the anodizer for color finishing and should be returning shortly.
  • We are still struggling to receive quality parts from our Chinese servo supplier, so we have engaged anther suppliers to ensure we are not delayed. We have received sample servos from our new supplier which meet our specs and are hopeful the rest of our order will arrive shortly. While this is great news for our timeline, we will have to continue to fight with our original supplier to receive our money back for the out-of-spec parts.
  • Electronics hardware has arrived and is ready for assembly.
