The conversation design industry is evolving rapidly, shaped by advancements in AI, shifting career opportunities, and new challenges in building human-like interactions. But where do we stand today? Where is the discipline heading? How does conversation design change across different regions of the globe?

For the first time, we are launching the first State of Conversation Design global survey. A community-led initiative that gathers insights from professionals, students, and experts across industries, experience levels, and regions.

The goal is to create a global picture, regarding different topics, ecosystem and regional nuances. The results will be publicly available, offering an understanding of worldwide trends, challenges, and regional differences in conversation design.

📢 Take the survey now and help us to understand your opinion about the industry. It takes about 10–15 minutes, as we aim to provide a detailed analysis in the final report. Answer the survey here.

Why you should answer

They say you can only improve what you measure — so let’s make this a collective effort to help the industry grow.

If the future is based on conversations with systems, someone must design them. As the industry evolves, the range of professionals shaping it may shift due to local and global forces.

Today, we see conversation design as a mix of disciplines — ranging from UX Design and Content Strategy to Agentic AI, NLP engineering, and cognitive development. But who are these professionals, really?

With your help, we aim to map the industry and build a global knowledge base that benefits professionals, students, and experts — even companies who would like to hire people from this industry.

All data will be anonymized and freely accessible, ensuring transparency and broad access to the report.

The survey takes 10–15 minutes to complete and is open until April 10, 2025. Due to the depth of analysis we aim to provide, the form is slightly detailed, but every response helps build a complete understanding of the field. Answer the survey here.
