Extending the power of Conversation to any service

Companies choose Converse because of it’s powerful Chatflow (Chat + Workflow) capabilities and graphical interface, including over 300 Chatflow modules, and integration into ten different channels.

However, this is still just scratching the surface of what it is possible. Converse allows you to integrate, use and build new services with new channels including Enterprise Messaging, Social, IVR, IoT and more.

To enable all this, we are very proud to announce Converse Platform Extensions, the ability for our customers and partners to directly build their own functionality and integrations, on top of the Converse Platform. These can be used for any business department or use case such as CRM, HR, Billing or many others.

It’s now possible to integrate a new messaging channel, drive automation in a third party SaaS service, or even integrate your own internal API’s, all directly into our UI & API.

“The Converse Extensions feature enable us to build new functionality so quickly and easily, whilst leveraging the existing capabilities of the platform!” Rob Castaneda, CEO, ServiceRocket

Converse Platform Extensions give you an entire framework to easily build to your requirements, with minimal work. Once you have built them, it’s even possible to directly deploy them into our infrastructure, so no additional hosting or technical resources are required. We have already open sourced & published a series of extensions for you to use as examples to get started including Salesforce, Web Scraper and more.

“We were really impressed with the ease of the Extensions tool. It enabled us to build a solid integration with Converse, enabling customers to embed text and voice channels into their conversational workflows, delivered through Nexmo’s high quality, global platform” Michal Raz, Global VP of Strategic Sales, Vonage

Extensions can be useful for four groups of developers:

Enterprise In House

Developers who are looking integrate with multiple, proprietary internal systems, to enable their non technical staff to easily model, build and drive business workflows.

System Integrators/ISVs

Developers looking to build specific functionality or deliver bespoke solutions to their customers.

SaaS Providers

SaaS providers who want to expand their product use cases, functionality and overall usage by opening up the ability to incorporate a bot or conversation solution directly into it.

“Using Converse Extensions meant we could reach new markets, by extending our existing products with new channels and capabilities. Using this tool was the fastest route possible and the most cost effective rather than starting from scratch ourselves.” — Rasmus Kalms, Director of Development, Vertic

Messaging/Conversation Channels

Bots & Conversational Workflows are becoming synonymous with Messaging channels. Now Converse can be easily extended to integrate into any of these, or even proprietary channels.

This means that whatever conversational solution or tool your business or your customers require, you can use the Converse.AI Platform to integrate with it!

Extension Types

There are three types of Extensions that can be created.

Modules

Modules allow you to trigger specific actions from within conversations, for example taking a payment from Stripe, or retrieving a record from Salesforce. These are automatically made available inside the Designer UI.

External Functions/Hooks

External functions allow you to extend the Converse API and listen for events from external systems, to then trigger Workflows, for example if a Payment is Processed, a Spreadsheet is updated or a Monitoring system detects an issue.

Channels

Converse already supports multiple conversational channels (Messenger, Google Actions, Workplace, Slack , Nexmo…) but it is now easy for you to directly add your own channel into Converse. We are already seeing use cases across IoT, IVR, Messaging and more from third parties. We are excited to see what new capabilities will appear.

Get started!!

So what are you waiting for? The documentation to get going is here, and you can see some examples of existing extensions you can download here. Use Extensions to build a conversational integration today!
