As construction at Lighthouse Point moves on to Phase 2, the focus of the $250 million project, which includes a new waterfront park, pier and esplanade at the foot of a 13-story luxury residence, along with 65,000 square-feet of retail, restaurant and commercial space, is now directed at the development of the Westin New York Staten Island.

“Lighthouse Point has partnered with Starwood Hotels & Resorts to bring the first full-service, business-friendly upscale hotel to the Staten Island waterfront,” Triangle Equities, the project’s developer, notes on its website. “For guests coming to experience a weekend in NYC, corporations seeking an event location that is as beautiful and inspiring as it is convenient, or for a couple celebrating the beginning of their life together, the Westin New York Staten Island will provide a perfect destination.”

The 175-room hotel, which was announced in 2016, will feature an unobstructed bayfront location with views of the Manhattan skyline, New York Harbor, Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and Verrazano Bridge. Westin, which features more than 200 resorts and hotels globally, will bring the brand’s signature commitment to guests’ well-being. A rooftop pool, bar and lounge, terrace with outdoor dining, spa and fitness center and meeting, conference and event space will be among the hotel’s amenities. A signature restaurant will be located within one of the historic structures that formerly housed the US Lighthouse Depot.

The hotel design, which embraces a blend of rustic and refined, will complement the historic structures along the waterfront promenade with a sleek tower of simple glass, stone and steel. A shared workplace concept by Regus will be anchored within.

The hotel, which is being designed by Perkins Eastman with interior work by Andres Escobar, has an expected completion date of 2019.

“Nowhere else on Staten Island will you find a full-service hotel with first-class amenities and stunning unobstructed views of the New York skyline to accommodate both business and leisure travel,” noted Lester Petracca, president of Triangle Equities, in a statement. “Lighthouse Point will fully cater to a live, work and play environment while retaining the feel of a charming and historic harbor town.”
