“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Luke 12:34

Luke Matthew Parlatore, a promising and charitable young athlete, passed away on Jan. 27, 2002, at the age of 17. Luke was a track athlete and a senior at St. Joseph by-the-Sea at the time of his tragic death.

The Luke M. Parlatore Scholarship Foundation, an all-volunteer, not-for-profit scholarship foundation, was established in his name, and formed to commemorate Luke’s life, commitments and values. The first three-mile road race and award ceremony was held in June 2002 at St. Joseph by-the-Sea.

Since then, Luke’s Foundation has honored exemplary male and female graduating track athletes with more than $150,000 in scholarships to the colleges of their choice and contributed more than $25,000 to local community charities, all thanks to the contributions through the years of friends, family and members of the community.

The Last Race For Luke will take place Saturday, June 24 at St. Joseph-by-the Sea. The Foundation wants everyone who has ever won a scholarship, run the race, helped raise funds, volunteered or donated money to the Foundation to come and be a part of this extraordinary day. Bring all your friends and family along!

June 10 is the deadline for Tee Shirt Sponsorships. For information regarding the sponsorship, to register for the race or to volunteer, call (646) 210–3771 or visit their website, www.LukeParlatore.org.
