Ethereum’s Growing Job Market

Ethereum’s job market is as dynamic, next-gen, and riveting as the technology it’s built on. While most of the required positions available that focus on Ethereum are developers, there is a need for individuals across the spectrum and one would not have to look too hard to find something that’s right for them to participate.

After researching available roles on Ethercasts, Ethereum’s Forum, Upwork, Ethlance, and Linkedin, most of what is required in Ethereum’s job landscape are developers who specialize in it’s core development language; Solidity (similar to Javascript). As Ethereum is still in it’s infancy, much groundwork needs to be laid to it’s tech infrastructure to succeed.

In the earlier stages of Ethereum, developers who would want to participate in the project would be mostly required to work in a startup environment. However, since the inception of Ethereum’s Enterprise Alliance (EEA), it’s been a fascinating trend to watch some of the major players hire candidates who specialize in blockchain technology at firms such as IBM, Cisco, KPMG, Cybercoders (an IT recruitment firm specializing in staffing for larger IT firms), Bitgo, Siemens, Microsoft, and Kik Interactive. This trend is truly an indication of how Ethereum is growing from grassroots to an organization many Fortune 100 firms are now utilizing.

Outside of a development skill set, jobs are infrequent but are available and seem to be increasing most likely due to Ethereum’s recent record breaking $35 billion market cap and growing business size. It seems that the candidates in this arena are most difficult to come across as Ethereum still seems to be too young to have exposure to candidates in areas outside of computer science.

The Ethereum community is abuzz about the next stage of Ethereum’s lifecycle called Metropolis in the coming months. While there is no concrete release date, an indication that this may be around the corner is the fact the Ethereum network is currently hiring QA Testers of Metropolis as shown here:

As the price of Ethereum taps new all time highs and catches up to Bitcoin’s market share, the community supporting it grows bigger and stronger along with it.
