Announcing STATION Small: the un-campus
As many of you know, when Station F first launched in June 2017, our goal was not only to be the biggest startup campus in the world with 1,000 startups, but also to create an entire ecosystem under one roof. We wanted young companies to be sure to find all the resources, expertise and tools they could possibly need right on campus.
The un-campus.
Now, with almost 2 years of experience behind us and after speaking with tons of entrepreneurs from around the world, we realize that the STATION F model is not for everyone. In fact, many entrepreneurs don’t want to share tips or meet people who can help them solve their problems — they simply want to do it on their own. And this is why we are creating the un-campus.
The smallest startup space, ever.
Today, we are pleased to announce our new project: STATION Small, the smallest startup space in the world. You can think of it as Station F’s little sister. It’s literally a space for just one person and nothing more. It’s built for entrepreneurs who don’t want perks nor community nor experts nor team nor cofounder — and who prefer to do everything (literally everything) all by themselves.
The program: a real challenge.
We spent months speaking to entrepreneurs from around the world to understand what we could offer that would really make a difference. Many of the people we spoke to told us that they felt that creating a startup wasn’t quite challenging enough. All the perks, events, workshops, shared resources and visibility just make things so easy that there isn’t any point to it anymore. They wanted to really feel the struggle again. So we created the Station Small program for them.
The program is founded on the core belief that entrepreneurship is a one-man show. It should not be about a team, about mentors or advisors. In fact, it could be considered cheating to surround yourself with smart and talented people. So this program is really designed to keep you from doing so.
Applications now open.
We are launching applications for the Station Small program today. Many entrepreneurs have told us that they are interested in joining, especially those who cannot stand their customers, teammates or cofounders. We realize that it may be difficult to decide between Station F and Station Small, but we encourage everyone to consider Station Small. We know that it may be tempting to apply to other programs at Station F, including the Station F Founders Program (deadline today), but it really sucks to be surrounded by ambitious people — like the ones we have at Station F — and it’s even worse when they become successful. So please, don’t wait any longer to apply to Station Small.
On behalf of Station F and Station Small, Happy April Fools :)
