34,000 sq meters, 310 meters long (yes, the size of the Eiffel tower laying down)… Believe us when we say: there are a *lot* of footsteps to count when you are a STATION F resident or visitor!

STATION F’s big building works like a campus: there are different areas with different purposes, whether it be working areas, prototyping labs, VCs zone, public administrations territory… It can be a lot to remember when you walk in for the first time.

Today, we’re revealing our secret weapon so that no one is lost at STATION F any longer: our indoor mapping system!

Just like Google maps, but for STATION F

When you’ll navigate STATION F’s indoor mapping system, you won’t feel disoriented (pun intended), it looks just like Google maps!

All useful components of STATION F have been added to the map, you can find meeting rooms, bathrooms, startup programs, fire exits… Maybe a hidden treasure?

Just use the Search area in the top left corner!

Interactive trajectories

Inside our map you can also look for the fastest trajectory to go from one point to another. Let’s say you want to go from the Welcome Desk to the meeting room you have an appointment at, easy peasy.

STATION F Indoor map, made by Intripper

STATION F’s number one mantra is: work with startups. Our furniture is made by startups, our software is made by startups, our VR tour is made by a STATION F startup, we breathe startups basically.

Therefore it was only natural that we partnered up with Intripper, an amazing company — winner of The French Tech Ticket and part of the NUMA startup program at STATION F (coming all the way from Mumbai, India) to build this map.

Meet Ketan, CEO of Intripper, who comes back on his entrepreneurial experience and the challenges he faced to build STATION F’s map.

Hi Ketan! Tell me about Intripper. When did you start the company and why?

“Intripper is essentially a cloud and mobile framework that empowers large venues with heavy human footfalls such as Airports, Train stations, Malls, Hypermarkets, Integrated Resorts connect and engage with their onsite customers. Our framework enables these venues to unlock revenue opportunities and offer a better customer experience leveraging geolocation and indoor maps.

It all started with challenges I encountered during my business travels. I used to travel overseas often for work and Google maps was a lifesaver — great to find places, get to meetings on time, etc. However, inside shopping malls or airports or large format stores — I did not get answers — Where’s UNIQLO? Is there a Mexican restaurant here? How far to my boarding gate? Can I get Sriracha sauce here — where is it?

Anyone who is not local, has the same challenges at large venues. And the numbers are not trivial. Consider this -

  • 8 billion passengers move through airports annually
  • 10 million daily passengers at SNCF Stations
  • 85% of people still shop in Brick and Mortar
  • 50,000+ Big Box stores in Europe and North America…. it goes on.

That got me thinking that there has to be a better way, and I looked around for solutions. But the ones that were around were expensive and not intuitive. And that’s how Intripper started … about two years ago.

My experience as an entrepreneur with a tech background helped envision, kickstart and bootstrap Intripper. It also helped that we already had a strong software dev team in Mumbai, India. From Day One, we have been laser focussed on building a solid, robust and yet simple framework. The results are now showing. We have a number of prestigious customers in India and South East Asia. In France, within a short span of time we are working with SNCF Gare & Connexions and Air France — two of the largest names in Transportation in Europe.

Mapping a 34,000 sq meter space with 3 floors… That must have been a challenge!

“The only real challenge was to figure out which colors would go well with the bright Station F pink while determining a color theme for the maps ;)

On a serious note — there was no real challenge. Thanks to a robust in-house process, we digitize indoor maps at lightning speed. The Station F Autocad drawings were digitized within a few days and all the content was already available on your website. So it was as easy as Pie.”

What are Intripper’s plans for the future?

“It’s still early days for Intripper, but it’s exhilarating as we are in an exciting space with a fantastic team.

We see a lot of demand for Indoor Maps across various sectors — retail, transportation, office, hospital and university campus’ etc. The current methods of consuming and leveraging Indoor maps have operational and budgetary constraints and we believe that Intripper as a framework is a simple and cost efficient solution to break these shackles.

Our goal over the next few years is to expand our list of clients in Europe, with Paris as our base. Our experience of working with SNCF, and Air France has provided some key learnings of what it will take to succeed in The EU.”

Needless to say, we are huge fans of Intripper’s work. If you want to reach out to them for a project, or if you want to give feedback on our map, write to: contact@intripper.com
