Stay Safe Dundee’s weekly briefings occur each Tuesday now which provides information on positive cases, 7 day positive rate per 100k, deaths, patients in hospital, patients in ICU, testing stats, cases by neighbourhood and the latest on the graphs which are updated weekly.

Latest updates

  • 62.9% of cases in Scotland are of the Omicron variant. The R number is above 3 and is a substantial increase from last week
  • 32 cases of the Omicron variant have been recorded in Tayside in the past 24 hours, this is an increase of 28 from last week
  • Over 50% of Dundee’s population have now received their booster jag
  • The advice for Christmas remains the same. It is recommended to limit to three households and stay at home as much as possible.
  • From 26 December for three weeks, except from private events, the limits for major events are as follows: 100 for indoor standing, 200 for indoor seated 500 for outdoor seated/standing
  • From the 27 December, further protections for hospitality will see a requirement for table service only for places serving alcohol and for indoor hospitality — 1m distance between groups is recommended.
  • Schools will continue to remain open after the school holidays. For colleges and universities, they are assessing further steps ahead of the new term and some are returning to online learning at the start of the next term.
  • Indoor contact sports are recommended not take place for a three week period from 26 December. This is due to difficulty of physical distancing.
