How to: Turn your camera’s GPS off (Android)

Your mobile phone is location-aware thanks to the GPS integrated in it.
As we all know by now, this capability is very useful when looking for directions or to get information about nearby businesses.
Your mobile phone is also able to include GPS coordinates to the pictures you take with it and this is how your phone is sometimes able to show where your photos have been taken.
If you’re used to posting pictures on social media, however, this can be a bad thing when considering the implications of that feature on your privacy.
Depending of the types of pictures that you post, someone can
- see where you live,
- see where your kids go after school
- see where you hang out
They can also see where you are at the very moment you posted the picture, and if you’re away from home, you might have just made life a lot easier for robbers.
Here’s how to turn the GPS off for the camera on Android, meaning that your pictures will have no location details on them:

Click on the Settings icon[/caption]

Click on Location[/caption]

Click on Camera[/caption]

Turn Location off for Camera app[/caption]
This will disable the camera’s permission to use the location.
That’s it, location details will not be added to your pictures anymore.
Stay safe!
