Navigating these times with kids can be tough — working parents, kids cooped up at home and a lack of support structures to help out. Worst of all there are suddenly lots of things out there, but it is hard to figure out which ones are worth your time.

There are a few parents on the Keen team and so we have created some Keens to help save you time and a bit of sanity in this unusual time. Check out the Keens below for collections of links and ideas for keeping your least cooperative roommates engaged, happy and healthy in the time of social distancing.

For the Pre-K crowd

This keen is for “Pre-K Pandemic Parenting” and is a small set of resources, links and ideas for managing kids at home in these times. There’s everything from science experiments to magic lessons.

In these early weeks at times it feels like there have been an infinite number of live sessions to dial into and join — thankfully everywhere school has a daily updated list of live broadcasts!

For first time home schoolers

We asked a few homeschool pros to contribute to this keen on how to survive your first time working on homeschooling. It includes online classes, tips on schedules, and known routines that are proven to work.

Ideas for fun kid activities

Stuck inside and want to have fun? Check out this collection of creative ideas for what to do when the kids have extra energy and can’t leave the house.

What is Keen?

Keen is an early product from Google’s experimental Area 120 team. Keen is a new way to create and curate long-term ongoing interests.

Keen starts when you add the things you’re currently interested in. This could be hobbies, interests, goals or projects. Each one becomes a “Keen”. You can follow other people’s keens or make your own.

As you create Keens, behind the scenes the app creates a feed by searching the web for interesting, relevant and useful links relevant to your Keen.

Have good ideas?

Contribute to help parents by adding your ideas to Pre-K pandemic parenting, Homeschooling kids for the first time, and Getting creative with entertaining kids inside or you can make and share your own keens for the things that are important to you. If you make your own keens and think they could help out others please share them here to be featured in future posts!

Stay safe!
