Packing is certainly a tricky business since most travelers are capped at about 20–30 kilograms for every checked luggage. This definitely leads to worries and stress when packing and, but it doesn’t have to be this way. These are the best packing tips, so you can be a little more stress-free before your big getaway:

Get the right bag

Whether you prefer a basic suitcase or a rolling duffel bag, it’s important to get the right kind of travel bag for you. There are a lot of styles and sizes available on the market, but the most important aspect of all is the material. Get a durable yet lightweight suitcase to get a long-lasting bag that will save you your precious checked-in baggage capacity.

Scan and plan

Once you have an idea of what you’re going to do during your vacation, it’s best to start scanning, lay everything out, and plan out which outfits would make the cut. Seeing all your possible outfits laid out is a good way to see which outfit you should bring and how many, which is the key to avoid overpacking.

Pack the right shoes

Once you’ve planned everything out, it’s best to make sure that the outfits that you’ve packed can be completed with one — or two pairs of shoes only. This is perhaps a little obvious, but bringing too many pairs of shoes will take up way too much space, which can be used for your clothing.

Take advantage of your carry on

If you’re really running out of luggage space, remember that you are still allowed to bring a 7 kilograms worth of carry on. Not only you can pack some of the things you can’t pack in your suitcase, you can also pack your essentials like water, phone charger, and valuables.

Don’t pack it, wear it

For bulky clothes like your jacket, coat, and sweater, it’s best to wear them or pack them in your carry on, instead of your luggage. This won’t only help to free up some space in your luggage, but a good way to deal with the chilly AC during your flight.

Seal up your toiletries — or forget em!

To save up some space, make sure to bring travel-sized toiletries, but if you don’t have any available this year, it’s easy to simply transfer all your products to empty travel-sized bottles that you can buy at a dollar store. Not only that, you also have to make sure that everything is sealed since you don’t want any shampoo explosion. If you’re staying at a hotel, there’s an even simpler solution, which is to forget your toiletries at home, since you are getting new refills everyday.

Hopefully with these tips you’ll have an easier time packing. Just remember that it doesn’t have to be stressful as long as you know what to do and what not to do. Have fun during your travels and don’t forget to get your adventure pants on.
