CoronaLockdown: Online Learning Resources
With downtime and remote-learning opportunities, it’s possible to acquire new skills and knowledge
Even with a Netflix subscription during the era of Peak TV, sitting on the sofa with the remote is going to get dull eventually. Most people crave a certain amount of variety, so thriving during Covid-19 lockdown may mean having different experiences while remaining in the same place.
Despite streaming, many at home in self-isolation are wondering how to fill their time. Look at this as an upside of being under quarantine. With no commuting or social life, there should be spare hours for reflection: evaluating your career path, and whether it is aligned with your values, goals and purpose.
There could even be time to consider learning new skills, or becoming competent in areas which will be useful when the pandemic is contained and things return to something approaching normal. Be ready to initiate a more rewarding working life by preparing yourself — identify skills gaps and take steps to address them.
Don’t waste this time. Use it to examine what you want, what your goals are, what your ideal career might look like and what you need to learn to get there.
The other advantage of the lockdown is the number of webinars and online courses which are now available, many of which are free or low cost. There’s no reason you can’t emerge from lockdown equipped with vital knowledge to enhance your career development.
The award-winning Stay Nimble platform has free tools to assess career strengths and opportunities, and you just need to become a member to use them. Once registered, you also have access to free courses in our Learning Hub. You just need to sign up to take advantage of free content and resources.
