Home to one of the world’s most prestigious universities, Cambridge brims with history, tradition and scholarly charm.

Travel: Cambridge station has direct rail links to London with termini at London King’s Cross (via the Cambridge Line and the East Coast Main Line), Liverpool Street (on the West Anglia Main Line), and St Pancras (on the Thameslink line).

DAY 1: Explore the city centre and River Cam…

Options for activities:

  1. Punting with Scudamore’s

Nothing sounds better than a relaxing day of punting on the River Cam! You can sit back, chill out and enjoy the views whilst on a chauffeured punt tour, or take on the challenge of punting yourself!

2. Xu Memorial Garden & the Wildflower Meadow

Explore the picturesque grounds of King’s College, part of one of the most prestigious universities in the world, the University of Cambridge. Tickets are available for self-guided tours of the college and include access to the wildflower meadow and Xu Zhimo garden — a memorial garden commemorating the Chinese poet Xu Zhimo who wrote his most famous poem, ‘Second Farewell to Cambridge’. The garden also includes a granite stone with the first and last lines of poem carved into it.

DAY 2: Discover Bourn, a picturesque village outside of Cambridge’s city centre…

See what all the fuss is about and try Cambridge’s famous Chelsea buns! Fitzbillies, a local favourite, has been a staple in Cambridge for a whopping 100 years. Its origins go as far back as the 1920s and it even continued to serve delicious treats during and after the Second World War. Their Chelsea buns, although a rare treat in the days of rationing, were so good that there were queues of people waiting outside the shop, not wanting to miss out on the perfect post-war tea party treat!
