Refrigerators and Life

Last night I welcomed a brand new refrigerator into my home. Its arrival was a happy ending to the previous week, when the old refrigerator died in its sleep. It didn’t suffer; I didn’t even call a repairman. No CPR, no intubation, no resuscitation. It was old, it had performed well, and I reconciled myself to spending a couple of thousand dollars on a new one. I moved the most precious of the foodstuffs into the wine fridge.
