Quebec tech firm awarded contract to develop Mixed Reality training for Royal Canadian Navy

Quebec, QC, October 3, 2023. Quebec City-based OVA Inc. was recently awarded a contract worth 2.5 million dollars by the Government of Canada to advance immersive and Mixed Reality software to be used for training junior officers at a Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) training establishment (HMCS Venture) at CFB Esquimalt, all through the licensing of OVA’s flagship product.

The contract is the third in a series resulting from the government’s Testing Stream and subsequent Pathway to Commercialization programme run by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED).

This contract enables OVA to continue providing the latest features in its software suite — a platform supporting distributed learning across a range of engineering curriculum related to Naval Technical Officer professional development.

OVA believes whole-heartedly in the potential for immersive learning (with Mixed Reality inclusions) to augment and revolutionize traditional classroom teaching methods. OVA’s software offers key advantages. It is more efficient in the way it empowers curriculum design. It is also a more effective way to learn in that it engages the learner’s attention, promotes comprehension, and enhances retention. OVA will continue to implement their vision of making immersive content creation accessible to anyone.
