StellarX celebrates 50k community

A few more steps towards making immersive experience creation accessible to everyone

OVA’s collaborative sandbox StellarX launched on the Meta Quest Store this past April and it’s safe to say, it’s been thriving ever since. Four months after getting to 25k, our StellarX community doubled in size to reach a gigantic milestone of 50k downloads! 🎉. We thought we’d share some of the milestones we’ve achieved since launching on the Quest Store. With no real reference point, getting to this stage was not a straight road. We wouldn’t have it any other way 😌.

Bringing StellarX to Quest as a standalone version, as simple as it sounds, required a LOT of work from our R&D, Development, Design, and Art teams. Nonetheless, it unlocked a whole new range of possibilities which allowed us to develop features that really brought StellarX to that next level. A whole new set of Mixed Reality (MR) features were launched, leveraging Quest 2 and Pro features. Enhanced color passthrough allowed users to go in and out of total immersion effortlessly — and even to sit in between, seamlessly merging the real and virtual worlds together! In a subsequent release, spatial anchors allowed them to share spatial references with colleagues, making immersive collaboration all the more easy. Mixed Reality felt like a natural continuation of what we’ve been doing these past few years, so it only made sense for us to make use of its groundbreaking potential. 💡

Other exciting features have also been made available since the launch, such as Voice Assist, which makes use of Artificial Intelligence to ease the creation process; Multiplayer in Create Mode, allowing users to collaborate while building virtual worlds on top of experiencing them; the Avatar Recorder, which supports the easy creation of lifelike NPCs; and several other UI tweaks that you can read all about on our Help Desk.

Plus, we’re developing even more interesting tools leveraging the new Quest 3 capabilities that we’re sure you’ll be excited to discover. We aim to leverage MR even more thanks to the introduction of both scene mesh and dynamic occlusion features, as well as make good use of the several hardware improvements such as increased CPU and GPU performances.

Throughout all these major milestones, we’ve been glad to see the online community grow and flourish, as people started using StellarX in new and creative ways. The enthusiasm we’ve been met with makes us want to do more
 which, then, lets you do even more. As such, we’re always glad to receive feedback, thoughts, and ideas across our various channels! We’re pretty approachable. 😉 We even set up a Discord server to gather members of the community, give them a place to interact with each other, and to be able to answer their questions with ease.

Since its very beginnings, StellarX’s goal has always been to democratize immersive content creation by making the process extra easy, without code. Now, we feel like this goal is truly within our grasp — if not already reached! We are astounded to think that after all our hard work, more than 50 000 people around the world are now able to create immersive experiences effortlessly. We sure hope to continue down that path for the years to come, and wish to thank the community from the bottom of our hearts for their continued support! 💗
