7 Facebook Event Marketing Growth Hacks That Will Skyrocket Your Attendance!

…but the way I see it, this innovation has created an opportunity for people to connect around the globe from the palm of their hand.

It’s no secret that a huge shift has taken place in how people, especially millennials, choose to spend their hard earned money. More than ever, people are spending their dollars on live engagements.

We love connecting with people who share our common interests. It’s the ultimate sign of a potentially good friendship.

Opinions vary on whether or not social media and the whole smartphone/internet thing is good for us but the way I see it, this innovation has created an opportunity for people to connect around the globe from the palm of their hand. That’s amazing. Using Facebook to market your events is nothing new under the sun, we know that.

Facebook continually adds new features to their event marketing platform to help you reach your goals. Here’s a quick list of features you can take advantage of:

ON-PAGE OPTIMIZATION FOR EVENTS

Events often include a network of businesses sponsoring the event or even actively participating. You can make the everyone “own” the event by…

EVENT TAB

Organize your tabs to make your events tab more visible to users when they visit your page from a desktop. To reorder your tabs, go to ‘Manage Tabs’ in the ‘More’ drop-down menu. If you don’t see an Events tab, you probably don’t have an event created to see it. Gotta do that first.

POSTING EVENTS

When you create events, they’re not on your news feed for people to see when they visit. You have to go and do that manually, here’s how:

  • Go to your events page (where your full list of events are).
  • On the event, to publish to your news feed, click the ‘Settings’ drop down menu.
  • Click ‘Publish Events to Timeline’ option.

FEATURE UPCOMING EVENTS

On your Facebook business page, the right-hand column is composed of different sections. Aside from the default, static sections which appear first, Facebook lets you reorder these sections to your liking. Upcoming Events can re-ordered to the top. To do this:

  • Go to your Facebook page.
  • On the right-hand column, you will see different sections that display your company information.
  • Hover and click your mouse on the upper-right hand corner of an editable section.
  • You know the section can be re-ordered when the edit icon, a pencil, appears once your mouse hovers over the corner.

POST YOUR EVENT CALENDAR

Share your upcoming events in a nicely organized Facebook post. This will remind your audience of everything you have going on at once. Use this as frequently as you like to save time on promoting each individual event.

Of course, promoting events individually has its place but this gives your audience a bird’s eye view perspective of events they likely want to be apart. This gives initiative for them to pre-plan, save the date, invite friends, and let others know where they will be. To accomplish this:

  • Head over to your Facebook business page.
  • Go to ‘Events’
  • Click ‘Share Events’

BONUS: Your events calendar comes with its own personal link for you to use in any other marketing channel. Facebook can now be considered luxury marketing at best! Here is a template of how your link looks: Facebook.com/[YourPage]/events

CROSS PROMO

OFF-PAGE FACEBOOK OPTIMIZATION FOR EVENTS

I have a crazy idea that one day there will be too much advertising being produced at once and it will all information will come in the form of…

FACEBOOK PAGE PLUGIN

Did you know Facebook has a plugin that lets you promote your page on any website? Just another tool incorporate social outreach into your business’ digital strategy.

The cool part is all changes are automatically made for you. Just plug in the snippet of code and you’re good to go. For more on this, visit Page Plugin help on Facebook.

QR CODE: WAY OF THE FUTURE

I have a crazy idea that one day there will be too much advertising being produced at once and it will all information will come in the form of QR code.

I won’t go into detail about my imagination (longer post) but Facebook definitely seems to be riding with me on this one. Yes, if you have promotional material such as posters, flyers, etc.. you can paste a QR code on it to create an opportunity to get people to commit.

Imagine this, you hand a flyer to a bystander. Your flyer immediately captures the attention and interest of the bystander but when the date of the event comes, he no longer feels the passion he once felt for the event so you lose an attendee because you didn’t make him/her commit to going.

Imagine the same scenario with a twist: Your flyer immediately captures the attention and interest of the bystander. He sees the Facebook QR code in corner page of the flyer.

Intrigued, he scans the code and is immediately taken to your events page where he can confirm his attendance, receive promo that will get him excited as the day’s countdown, ask questions, and connect with other people attending the event.

When the date of the event comes, he’s even more excited than when he received the flyer thanks to the QR code helping him connect. From there, he has the opportunity to build a relationship with the event as a whole.

QR codes are effective at transmitting and delivering information quickly. Test it out for your next event, here’s how:

  • Head over to your Facebook business page
  • Go to your Event page
  • Click drop-down menu on the far right.
  • Select ‘Create QR Code’
