Along with a warm welcome to everyone at STEM First! Gen., we want to establish a particular value in this community — diversity.

STEM First! Gen. welcomes all first generation science communicators, regardless of gender, ethnicity, and anything that seems to cause barriers. We will not tolerate racism, sexism, and any forms of discrimination/harassment.

created this publication so we can break the idea of underrepresentation in STEM. Here are some ways we want to do so:

All languages are accepted.

We will provide an English translated version along with the original article’s language. We want to reach all nations, from yours to ours. Furthermore, we do not want our writers to feel uncomfortable because of their first language, which we respect. Email us at stemfirst.gen@gmail.com for submission requests if you have any issues with the form, and we will be happy to communicate with you.

Non-first generation students can pitch articles.

It was contemplated. If we want to open doors to diversity, we need to be inclusive of unique science communicators. Even though you may not be the first to graduate in the family, you are the first to make your signature style in STEM & Co. You can be the first to create a science club, or the first in the family to stand for gender/race equality in STEM. Send us the request if you know that you are the first to do what you do for science and your passions.

Include your pronouns.

When submitting the form, leave us your pronouns and we will include them next to your name when we share your article!

Example: Shinkō (she/they)

We want to find the best ways to make our writers feel included in the new STEM First! Gen. family. Remember our Twitter @stemfirstgen DMs and our email stemfirst.gen@gmail.com are always open to your inquiries.
